Things Religious People Say That Annoy Me (Part 2)

This is my second entry of things that religious people -- mainly U.S. Christians -- say that grate on my nerves.
Second:
JUST READ THE BIBLE. ALL THE ANSWERS ARE IN THERE.
Oy.
I honestly don't know where to start with this one, because it's mind-boggling in its inaccuracy.
First, if "all of the answers" are in the Bible, why do we have an estimated 30,000 different Christian denominations? Why are there nearly 70 different Baptist denominations in the U.S. alone? If all the answers were there, we'd all belong to the same religion. If all of the answers were in the Bible you wouldn't have different denominations that differ very little theologically except in whether or not the acknowledge the pope engaging in long, bloody wars.
More significantly, I consider this another statement of Christian arrogance. "I have all the answers, you don't." The reality is all of the answers are NOT in the Bible. God reserves the answers to some mysteries to Himself.

Perhaps all the answers are in the Bible but some people don't like the answers so they make up their own? And I am willing to bet that no real person ever said to you "I have all the answers, you don't" . I would say "God has all the answers, neither you nor I do."

If I had awards to give, you'd get it for what I think is the best answer. There is no better example of this than the fourth commandment (I'll address this in my next discussion): God said "the seventh day," Christianity says, "Nah, don't like that, we'll pick our own day then declare that God said it's okay."

You have all the different denominations because man is creating a religion and not keeping to the word of God...Changing the meaning of what a Christian is to be, and that is having a relationship with God..
What answers to life's questions are you looking for that you can not find in the Holy Bible.......

You cannot expect to find specific answers for 2015 in a set of documents that was completed around 2000 years ago. All you can muster are general principles that can then be interpreted as applying to current situations. However, those interpretations can vary enormously - just look at the arguments over gay marriage, for example. It then comes down to whose interpretation you trust, not what is actually in the Bible.

@indexer Yes you can find specific answers for 2015 and beyond....All the principals are their...
Yes their will always be arguments.....It is either Gods way or satans way.... And yes God is very Clear on what he said marriage should be, and God was also very clear on what he thinks of the Homosexual lifestyle.....
Yes it comes down to whose interpretation you follow Gods, or satans....Do you follow what man says or what God says in his word the Holy Bible....

@dlr297 You are always trying to divide this world in two. Us vs them. That's not how things really work. You'd hate to know the world through my eyes, because there are many things that you'd never find an answer for in that book. Except useless interpretation. You can interpret truth forever; that doesn't mean you have obtained it.

I agree - that is far too facile a thing to say. I am sure that it would be possible to justify any act you might mention - good or bad - by reference to something in the Bible, especially if you yank it out of context and apply some bizarre interpretation to it.
Just to give one example - slavery of black people by white people was "justified" for centuries by reference to the story of Ham being cursed by Noah. The idea that Ham was the ancestor of all black people was widely believed, but was of course utter nonsense, along with much else that you will find in those pages.
