A Busy Weekend/The Lows and Highs of Sport!

I had an extremely busy weekend between friends and family visiting, and so, yes, it is two days after a very disappointing result for any Springbok (South African) Rugby supporter, that I am able to talk about it all. And sorry if it has been talked to death, but, a sport nut I am. Saturday night after the Springboks lost to the All Blacks (New Zealand), congratulations @valmnz , I and my friends were just gutted, we threw more logs on the "braai" (barbecue) and sat looking at the fire and then gazing up at the stars in the summer sky, pondering the whys and the wherefores'. Ah well, I still am a Springbok supporter all the way! @Inlemay , maybe we win it next time? Good luck to New Zealand and Australia in the final. Sunday, family came for lunch and we ate a delicious meal, with dessert of watermelon and vanilla ice-cream being the highlight on a hot and humid day, and watched Cricket, thankfully the South African Cricket team, the Proteas, beat India, we have now won the T20 series and the One-Day series, and so, we could celebrate that. Oh, the lows and highs of sport! How was everyone's weekend? What did you all do? I hope Monday has been, or is being kind. I am off to see what everyone has been up to.

My hubby was a football coach for his career. We had to love the team no matter win or lose. We lost some but mostly wins made us happy. He doesn't coach anymore but his team lost this weekend, it was a heart breaker.

Yes, it was a heart breaker too when my team lost this weekend, it is crazy it effects us so. Sorry your husbands team lost, guess it was not our weekend with some of our favourite sports.

The final will be played, our top guys will retire and then all will be forgotten until we all meet again next season.

And then the nerves will start again. Now it is to see who will be World Champs. Good luck in the final, Val. :-)

@bluesa I'm not making any more comments here about rugby, on Lany's post some people were rather rude about New Zealand.

@valmnz , I think I will be giving sport here a miss too from now on, I have many people on B who really understand and appreciate what a sport fanatic I am. Thank goodness a few of them are here, but, I do much better over there with sport, than here. Sorry that there were some upsetting comments about New Zealand. I will also be sticking to more neutral subjects from now on.

I'm glad that the cricket team won, that must be a consolation. I had a quiet weekend, just my husband and I here.

Hello there, Janet, thank you. After the burn of losing against NZ in the Rugby, we so needed something to help our nation feel a bit better, so, yes, our Cricket team winning helped soothe a bit. But, oh boy, we so wanted that Web Ellis Trophy, sigh. I hope you still had a lovely weekend!

Is baseball a summer sport? If so, I hope your team had a good season, it is not easy being a sport fan. :-)

Wow! You did have a busy weekend. We had a fun weekend, but didn't watch many sporting events ... just a little football on TV.

I am glad you had a fun weekend! I know NFL is a big sport in the US, I hope your teams do well, or your team does well this season. :-)

I've always been kinda clueless when it comes to sports:), but still do have an interest in how it's percieved elsewhere by others-and even back in bubblews I did read your sport posts...I just never commented on them:)

Ah ha, I do like a mystery. It warms my heart though, that you are one of those that knows I have always written about sports, and what a true sport nut I am, probably drove you batty with it on B :-D. I am taking a guess here, but, how is dog and turtle? Am I right... . Oh, and you just said something on a sport post, okay a discussion, of mine, oh yeah, oh yeah. Okay, I'll stop now. :-)

@HebrewGreekStudies , ha ha ha! The turtle is still tough, no lettuce, huh. What you going to do about it, maybe a little of popeye's food? But, wait, that could be dangerous. Now, a knitting dog, how cool would that be! Hey, as long as all is mellow. :-D

@bluesa nah, you got me right...the turtle and the dog are fine...though the turtle is still, well, you know? He's all and tough...he almost mellowed, but this was only a phase;). The dog has taken up a new hobby of knitting though...so, at least someone has mellowed:)

Rugby, unfortunately is not played in India, so we people have not developed much interest towards it. I have seen it on TV and it seems an interesting sport. Our last week was busy and lots of errands were there to attend.

Rugby is an interesting sport, but very brutal. The weeks do seem busier. I hope you take time to rest.

The weekend was great! I am not much into sports. I prefer top play them rather than watch them. I do not celebrate Halloween. I watched some of my favorite programs. I went for worship. Over all, great!

Sports are NOT my thing--reading, eating, movie & theatre going, observing Mother Nature is what my is about.

So true, you surely do, it is a heartache. I do not know why I keep getting pulled back in, but each game, there I am in front of the tv supporting my teams, it is insane. :-)

I hope all is better with your grandson, and all went well having his ears drained. Enjoy Parys and bowls. We will be braaing again too, this is braai season on turbo after all. :-)
