Do you ever have to wake up before dawn?

I'm sitting here sipping my first cup of coffee, waiting for the sun to come up. During the late Fall and early Winter months, I have to wake up before dawn to teach my 8 AM class. Fortunately, it only meets two times a week. On other days of the week, I don't have to wake up quite so early. We used to wake up before dawn on Summer days to stack hay in Montana, so we'd get most of our work done before the day got too hot. I still feel a bit like a ranch hand on these early days. Do you ever have to wake up before dawn? I'll attach a picture of a sunrise I watched last Winter, taken from my desk through the screen on my window.

The sun has never been up before me! I am up and ready to go usually 5:30 or so.

I don't wake up before dawn because I don't got to bed until about 2am. My last 8 years of my working life, before I retired, I worked from 4am to 1 pm, Monday through Friday. I lived an hour from work so I got up at 2am to leave the house at 3am. I actually loved it after I adjusted as the morning crew was so much fun and we would talk about so many different things.
The bad thing was in the summer when I went to bed at 7pm, I was wide awake and the kids were playing outside and it was very bright. The winters were ok. Now I am making up for it.
My husband is an early bird and is up about 6am and I get up between 9 and 10. He usually goes to bed about 8 pm to watch any sports that are on and that is when I watch all the tv shows I record and then get on here for hours.

My life haschanged a lot these last years. I never liked to get up early, but first I had to study and then to teach at early hours. For some time I helped my husband and stayed up at the computer (until around 3 AM) Then I would open my eyes at 10 or 11 AM. Now I live alone and stay late and get up late.

Yes, pretty much every day I do. I don't have to, but my body has been trained to get up at an earlier time. I figure, I'd just be laying in bed, staring at the ceiling, and not really getting any sleep or doing anything productive. So why not get out of bed. Granted, it's harder to justify rising out of bed, when the weather gets cold, the day gets shorter, and dreary, but eventually I man up and just do it.

I wake up most days before dawn. Not that I have to, it just happened like that. I don't mind it much because I can get online with my coffee and get some things done. I totally enjoy that. The only downside to this is that I wind up getting tired by the afternoon. I wind up napping sometimes. And that I am not happy about.

I am up early as I get to bed early. I like those beautiful morning hours when I am fresh after a cuppa to be here and chat with all of you.

I've worked shifts around the clock, so I have had to get up before dawn. Beautiful picture.
