Be Good Always!

Yesterday at the office , we saw a hanging message at the newly put up Christmas tree, saying Ho ho ho Engr . _______ , be good always , from Santa Claus . And when the engineer . saw it , he suddenly flared up and in a loud voice asked who made that message and wrote on it “ whoever you are please come to me and deal with me “ I asked him , why he was so angry when it just says be good and he told me it’s insulting because what does the maker of it means - that he is not good ! I laughed out loud about it and said “ of course the one who wrote it will never reveal who he is since you are angry “ . But he said he will let HR find out who. When I asked an officemate who made it , it was the Marketing lady officer whom he always teases ! Now , the message was taken out from the Christmas tree and he will never know who did it . In my opinion , the message should have been “stay as good as you are always “ but then he is not that always anyway . So , I told everyone , next time when you do a greeting , see to it that the recipient will be happy or better still , just don’t hang a greeting there .

Indeed . I think , there was a bit of insinuation indeed there , because the one who made it was the one he frequently give jokes that are a bit of insinuation too. Karma .

@sofssu But you know , she didn't reveal that she is the one . She is after all afraid also to be confronted . Well, at least the engineer doesn't know who it was so they are still in good terms .

Yes, we should be careful while putting such messages at a public place, instead of doing good it could do harm.

@SIMPLYD It really doesn't matter who took it out, since it is gone.

@SIMPLYD - yes, you gave the right advice and hopefully they will take it in right earnest. I think the one who had initially put it on the Christmas tree would have removed it, when there was so much clamor.

Correct ! I told them to be better be discerning in putting messages in their greetings . Now, everyone learned their lesson . And that greeting card was taken out from the Christmas tree . I just don't know who took it out .

It is iniquitous that you even have a Christmas tree up at this time of the year!

@SIMPLYD I have heard of people (in the US) who keep their Christmas tree up all year. It seems pointless to me because what can be special about a festival which goes on for so long? I have heard Filipino/as going gaga because the months now end in '-ber' and that heralds Christmas! When I was small, we never were allowed to put up any decorations at all until Christmas Eve and they all had to be taken down on 6 January ("Old Christmas Day") otherwise dreadful things would happen, according to my mother! In England, we don't traditionally make a big thing of Hallowe'en (though the shops see it as a time to sell all sorts of trash).

@owlwings I too wouldn't like that the Christmas tree be put up the whole year round . There's no more excitement seeing it once a year.

That's how it is in the Philippines . We put up Christmas decors early . That's because the Halloween isn't celebrated much . Only at the hotels , malls and at some posh subdivisions .

He said why does he have to be told to Be Good , as if he is a bad person. As to the Christmas tree , that's how it is in the Philippines . Halloween decorations are at the malls and hotels only .

Some people get really sensitive over silly stuff sometimes. The best option would be not to have any kind of sign up at all.

Maybe that's her subtle intention because the day before that the engineer was teasing her again and she seemed irked with his teasing . And then suddenly that greeting .

When the HR head and i talked i asked her if the engineer really wants the culprit to be looked for . She laughed and said , why should i , it's a petty thing . So now , it was a case closed . Besides the greeting was removed already . We don't know who removed it , but we presumed it was by the one who made that greeting .

I think He was offended by the message because if others will comprehend it would think of he's really bad because if not no one would tell him to be good.

Correct ! That's exactly how he interpreted it . Now that message was gone already from the Christmas tree . Maybe to stop him from being angry anymore.

@LadyDuck Oh , so December 6 is St. Nicolad day ! Now i know , thanks to you . And it's the day , most of your put up the Christmas tree . Actually , here at home we don't put up the Christmas tree anymore since most of us are grown ups and it's so tedious to put them up and put them down again .

By reading your discussion, I noticed some things. Those who want to give their message, they should think once before hanging the message. If the person makes us hurt, we need to be patience and try to convey our feelings about how much we hurt, and convey the same to the person directly. It is the best thing to my view.

Yes indeed it should be that way . But the lady who made tha, t felt otherwise , so she just kept quiet and not make herself known as the one who really did the greeting , and stop the anger of the engineer alread y .
