"How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?"
How many of you remember that slogan from the old TV commercial with the owl? I sure do! I remember it vividly from when I was a kid many years ago. My brother and I would beg my mom to buy Tootsie Pops just so we could try and see how many licks it would take!
So, it was much to my surprise when I saw that those old Tootsie Pop commercials are being re-run on TV today! It was like taking a step back in time. My two kids were amazed when I told them I used to watch that same exact commercial when I was a small child!
Have you seen that commercial airing lately, or do you remember it from the good ole days?

Haha, you're right! It did take him three! But after the third lick, he bit into the lollipop. Does that still count?

I saw this commercial just the other day. I do have tootsie pops here but would never count to see how long it takes lol.

That would be interesting to see if the company ever did actual "lick" tests to see what the average would be! Could you imagine a bunch of people in a test lab lick tootsie pops and keeping count of their licks? That would be pretty funny!

I remember this commercial but I haven't seen it on commercial lately. Probably because I watch Netflix, Hulu, Youtube most of the time.

I didn't realize how popular tootsie rolls and tootsie pops are. The company claims that over 60 million tootsie rolls were sold last year, and over 20 million tootsie pops! That's a lot of candy!

there are some commercials that are just timeless, and could be shown on tv during any decade and still remain relevant. This is one of them!

ok, this is so funny you wrote about this. i have no idea where my 9 year old knew that question & i bought some & he tried. it was like 178 or something. ha ha
