I know this is a post doomed to get about three reads, but I just had to write it. I was rooting for the Royals after the Cubs (my #2 team) got swept from the Mets. My reason? One of my favorite ex-girlfriends is from Kansas City, and her family is heavily into sports. My second reason is that my San Francisco Giants beat the Royals in the World Series last year. My third reason? They're a scrappy team with no superstars but a good philosophy: put the ball in play and see what happens. Last night's game was a good one, with some coaching decisions that true baseball fans will enjoy discussing. So there you have it. Congratulations to the Kansas City Royals! Did you watch any of the World Series?

I didn't watch it but I kept up with it. Yay, Kansas City - I don't believe they've won it for a very long time (1980's?) Way to go.

@TheHorse Yes, 1985 was the last time the Royals won the World Series.

The Royals remind me of the Spurs. Unselfish team not reliant on one big star and skilled at all the fundamentals.

I'm so happy for the Royals!! (I wasn't going to root for a team that swept my Cubs!
) I was in Kansas City earlier this year and got to tour Kaufman Stadium. It's a beautiful stadium despite the fact that it's now one of the oldest stadiums in baseball (it was actually a prototype of sorts: while everyone else went to those cookie-cutter, all-purpose stadiums in the 70's KC built separate baseball and football stadiums, and that's the norm now). The team and the fans are first-rate.
And yes, I watched it all....paying particular attention to everything after the 7th inning, because that's when the Royals started going to work!
It was hard to watch, though, thanks to the atrocious nonstop fertilizer spewing out of the mouths of Joe Buck and Harold Reynolds.

i have never watched them.I think this is base ball tournament. In our country base ball tournaments are not telecast on the tv. They only telecast cricket and rugby and rarely football matches

I was rooting for the Royals, so it's nice to be able to congratulate them on their win! I think I was their good luck charm this year...I only watched four games, and it happened to be the four games they won! lol

I must admit I did not watch any of it. But I didn't even watch when the BoSox were in it. I just don't really follow baseball anymore. It's not the same since people gave up listening to the game on their transistor radio while sitting out under a shady tree with the roar of nearby lawnmowers and the smell of fresh cut grass.
