What a morning! Given the runaround and not a happy camper....

Today my SSI(Social Security) is deposited in my bank account. So, I go to my bank account and the balance is less than it is supposed to be. Scrolling down I see that there are two 'preapproved' payments to Microsoft taken from my Paypal account. No money in there so it came back to my bank account for payment. So, it was only $5 but still I know nothing about it and certainly DID NOT authorize this. I know my GS has Xbox and he is the only one that could have done this. He must have bought a game using my credit card. I did buy an inexpensive game for him back in September and they don't have a place on the transaction page to make it only a one time transaction so my CC was on his Xbox account. So I had words with him on this before he went to school. He denied doing it. Ugh! So, I call Paypal and the man I spoke with said they will investigate and that the amount debited will be held until they conclude the investigation. Can be up to 7 days. Hope I don't need it before it goes back to my account. This time of month money goes out pretty quickly. Just to be sure I call Microsoft to see if can cancel my CC from their books so he can't use it again without my authorization. The woman I talk to has me go to my PP account asked me to do and find stuff I can't find. She doesn't know how to have me proceed to find what she needs so she refers me to Xbox. Gives me a toll free xbox #. I call it and the guy says he is sales and can't help me. Gives me another # but I can't call it until 11a., he says, cause it is Pacific Time. This doesn't even make any sense. I did some other paperwork and talked to my daughter and about an hour later I decide to call Microsoft again. This time I get a woman who actually sounds intelligent and like she knows what she is talking about. She has me go to my PP account again and is able to navigate me where I need to go. She is able to cancel his subscription which was going to debit my account automatically on November 5 which I had no idea whatsoever about. And, she cancelled my CC from being active so he cannot use it again. Can you believe it?! This is Microsoft. The first girl didn't even know what she was doing. If I had spoke to this second woman the first time around I could have gotten this taken care of in a matter of ten minutes instead of being given the run around because the first girl didn't know what she was doing.

Thats pretty unfair to you letting someone charge your account they should have research things a little further.

I think that they should have a place on the page when you are buying games that allows you to say that this card is for just this transaction and not to be left on the account. Especially with this being a mainly kids thing. Xbox.

At least the second one knew what she was doing when I had to deal with Kohls customer service it took about 4 people and hours of frustration. Customer Service is just not what it used to be, sorry SusanZ you are I am sure the exception. This is one reason I will not buy discount magazines online, they want to help you with auto renewal. Oh you know some of those games are monthly games, I know my GS play some like that, it is a membership of sorts not a one time thing.

I guess it was his Live account that he had a subscription on. I worked in customer service for nearly thirty years and it sounds like the first two I talked to hadn't graduated training class. It was quite idiotic. If I hadn't called back it would probably never have gotten taken care of until I had time to set on the phone and wait for someone to answer.

@BelleStarr ...they were all foreign. The last gal was very good about speaking good English and I was able to understand her very well. When a get agitated I can't understand them very well. Makes it very hard on me to decipher what they are saying and then I get more upset. I had to tell one guy years back now that I needed to speak to someone else. Terrible huh?

Glad you got it taken care of before your card was charged again. I hope they investigate and give you your money back. Your grandson probably did buy a game you can always look on his xbox and see what is new that you don't recognize or have your daughter do it.

Yes, but I doubt I can get money back if he has already used it.

Don't hate me for this - take it as feedback that you might want to edit the post - but I don't have the slightest idea what SSI is and I fear most of the non-US world will be in my shoes.

@celticeagle Thanks for amending that. I had guessed it was likely to be something like that but sometimes it helps to spell it out for us foreigners.

As far as I know no one can get into my paypal or bank account. I will have to pay more attention when my SS checks get in. Time to check today..

No one got into mine either. I had bought my GS a game last month and they don't have a one time think option on there. So my CC was on there. It's so screwy and I am glad I got it taken care of. Now I hope the gal was right and everything is cancelled and blocked.
