When Life Is Too Boring to Write About

I have actually had a wonderful day, but I'm sure most of you are tired of hearing about my research, writing and Local History Week. That's all there has been in my life the last couple of days, exciting stuff for me but becoming repetitive for the rest of you. This has been my first chance of coming online all day, other than a few facts I needed to check on. But believe it or not, I have achieved a lot. Maybe tomorrow I'll do something worth writing about.

Sometimes, even running errands or doing small chores can be exciting.

Exactly, but I tend to be over doing writing about my research project. Normal, every day life is on hold at the moment.

@ElizabethWallace You've inspired me! I'm going to write about "karma at the dollar store" and see if anybody cares!

You have to think outside your own box Val. Just cast your net there.

@valmnz You better do something unique then to write about

@allknowing I prefer to be where I am at the moment, immersed in Borough Council arguments over finance in the early 1900s - no one wants to hear about that

Oh you boring girl. I think that you should take a day off and go white water rafting or Gecko training so that we will have something interesting to read about.

That sounds like a great idea. How about a trip to the vineyards? I consider white water rafting a spectator sport.

@valmnz I think the same when it comes to white water rafting. A great sport for others.

I don't always have things to write about either. It's not always easy to think of something to write about.

@dodoazo that is a worry since in my real life I carry the labels of both writer and historian.

Keep a little notepad and pen with you at all times. At any time you do something, jot it down and put a little note next to it. At the end of the day, write a short story about it. I like to do that as I forget what I did all day long but I remember saying to myself, this will be a good post.

@valmnz @ramapo and it is good if we can relate to it because somewhere along the way we learn something from it. something new. and I like learning

I know what you mean. I have been busy today but nothing interesting enough to write about and today has been a pretty slow day for me as far as myLot is concerned. I would write a post, but I have nothing to say.

I certainly know that feeling. I'm not sure what is going on here, but this post seems to be attracting a lot of attention today. Do people rally want to read about things being boring?

attending is one thing, going on about it is another. Still, I'm off to a book launch later for a bit of an outing.

There are times I feel like that myself. I wonder sometimes if people get tired of reading about my kids and my pets, but that's my life. It's exciting, sometimes, to me but not necessarily to everyone else. Write about it and people will read it if they want.

I reckon almost every day of my life is too boring to write about, so I scribble nonsense about big impersonal topics instead. Maybe I need to think more about the little daily things, and try to "see a world in a grain of sand."

I agree most of the time but when one writes about the same thing over and over others tend to start drifting away.

@valmnz And we write with the most passion about things of interest to us. So I won't stop posting about vintage loudspeakers, working with troubled kids, music, etc. It's the stuff that I find exciting, and hopefully I can pass that excitement on to others.
