The tree planter is here..

United States

Things are rolling right along today! He said he would be here about 2 and he was. I can't wait until the Leyland Cypress trees are planted! There will be more jobs for him in the future - we do need some more trees of some kind planted in the front yard. We have red maples out there and they were really pretty when they changed color! Think I'll go outside and do some supervising! Oops - I just went outside and it turns out these trees are not 5 feet tall, they are about 3 feet tall because they sold out of the big ones. He should have bought them last week..why don't people do their jobs correctly?

Seems we order something and then when it turns up it is not what we ordered whether the height of a tree or something else.

He should have bought the trees two weeks ago when the big ones were available.

@AbbyGreenhill She he should have bought the bigger the trees while they were still available.

@Marcyaz Yes, and he was rather stupid not to do that. And when he found out there were none left he should have called us to ask if we wanted smaller ones or wait until spring.

We were going to get this guy to plant regular trees next year, not now! We'll be on the search for someone else.

@Jessicalynnt We have a few fruit trees and love them. So do the bears, so we have to pick them clean as soon as they are thinking of getting ripe.

@AbbyGreenhill Quality service is important. I have repeat customers (in my loudspeaker pretend business) because I'm honest and always do what I say I'll do.

Yes they are, but they seem to be slow growers.

@TheHorse We wanted something that stays green all year. I just read the tag on them, they grow to be 10 feet wide.

Sorry your parade got rained on just a bit. But I hope the prospect of watching them grow is still exciting!

@TheHorse The next people would probably cut them down.

Like I told my husband, we'll be moving on long before they get big enough.

@AbbyGreenhill To me, that's a part of the pleasure. Long after I'm gone, the kids I've worked with will carry on some of the things I've taught them. A tree is a gift from this generation to the next (and something of a metaphor, I suppose).

Even I am supervising when someone is here. Even in here, the people dont do the job, so that it is must to supervise them.

It's a shame the trees are not precisely what you wanted. Hopefully they will thrive and grow quickly for you.

Thanks, maybe if I go pull on them they will grow fast! They are fast growers but it will still be years before you do what we wanted them for.

@AbbyGreenhill It's annoying when you take the trouble to plan something then someone else messes up those plans.

If there was a difference in the pricing and I paid for a 5ft tree I would hassle them to get what I ordered.

We paid for the ones he bought they were $16 each which is a good price. The bigger ones had been on sale for 22 each, they were originally 4o ech

Do you have a contract? You should refuse to pay for those.

We didn't have a written contract, just verbal.

That is annoying. He should charge you less.

He only charged us for the trees and 80 bucks to plant them and he did all the running around so he didn't make much.

@AbbyGreenhill Glad to hear that. Do you think you got a "too small tree" discount?

Oh some really do need supervising! Glad you were there to correct it.

It didn't get corrected, we got smaller than we were told we would get.

Don't worry, they grow so fast, in no time you will have to pay someone to cut them!

No cutting, they are for privacy (if they ever get that big!)

I am going to look it up to find out exactly how much they grow in a year.
