This article suggests sticking to a Mediterranean diet. And it is true that people that live in this region live long lives and are very healthy. They eat very little meat and dairy, and basically eat what they grow.

According to list of life expectancy in the world, top of the list is Japan, followed by Spain, Andorra, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, Singapore and San Marino. You can be sure that the people living in all those countries eat meat. I must admit that the Japanese diet is one of the best in the world. I personally like sashimi, the raw seafood.

I think Japanese diet is very healthy, too. And many people have long lives in Japan. They never eat so full. This is a very good habit because it will create many healthy problems if you eat so full. A diet habit is much more important for me, namely more vegetables, grains, fruits and less meats.

Yes, it is very healthy, but western food has found their way there. My mom had gastric cancer a few years ago, she is now in remission. I attribute the cancer to a western diet.

I'm still going to eat meat but less processed meat. Stay with veggies, fruit, nuts, whole grains and the like.

I don't eat a whole lot of meat, maybe 2 to 3 times/month. But when I do, my salads and veggies are my main course and the meat is the side dish.

I love vegetables more than any food. I can live without meat for sure because there are a lot more healthier choices.

This diet is great but I have to have some meat at times. Lean and clean and in moderation is my rule. I think a vegan diet is boring and once you have experienced meats I think it is doubly hard to totally give it up.

I live in New Zealand. We are meat eaters. It's too late for me to change now.
