You've heard of those relationships that start online. Maybe the gal and the guy meet in a chat room or on a dating site. Well, back in the late 70's or early 80's( before cell phones, when there were only land lines) I struck up a relationship with a guy and he was calling me getting a wrong number. See, my number used to be close to another person's number. He called the wrong number and got me instead. I did the usual "Nope you must have a wrong number." He was very polite. He called again the next night. Same thing and then, a few minutes later he called back. He said about me sounding interesting and such. We started talking every evening about the same time. I don't remember what ever happened to this but I know we never went out and we never met. Did you ever do something you'd never regularly do but found it rather interesting at the time?

I do too. I was a telephone operator and worked in customer service for nearly thirty years. The last thing I want to do after talking to customers all day is go home and get back on the phone.

Yeah, know I don't recall. I think that within the time we did talk I realized we didn't have a lot incommon. It was interesting talking to him though.

This has to be a rare occurrence because most people would simply apologise and hang up.
I do remember a work colleague some years ago starting to chat with a girl online. When he said that he intended to pack up his job and fly to America I warned him of how dangerous this could be, but he went anyway. The last that I ever heard of him was when I received an email telling me that he was marrying the girl.

@Asylum ...Initially he did just that. But called me again the next day. It became a bit of a joke and then he called back the third time and we began talking.

It wasn't supposed to be reliable. It was two people coming together to enjoy one another for a period of time.

I can tell a lot about a person in listening to them on the phone. I have been talking to people on the phone for many years. Worked as a telephone operator, and in customer service. He wasn't.

I remember back then in the 70s, there was something called the beep line. You would call this number and it would have busy signals. People would talk in between the busy signals, and say their name and phone number. I never actually met people this way, but know people that did.

I have had two beautiful friendships through internet. I never met any of the people, but they were very important in my life.
