Are Vacations Necessary?

I suppose one can question the need for a vacation. Some will say that it is a waste of money and others will exclaim that they would much rather stay at home. If you go off on some amazing holiday make sure it ticks all the boxes according to your personal interests and the intersts of people you may be going with. Some vacations can look so good on the glossy brochures. Get there and you think you have arrived in a totally different place. The internet can be so misleading as people can post all sorts of false pictures and lies. So do your homework and read reviews! Getting back to the reason to pack your bags and go. A change of scenery and climate can be so refreshing and can give you a renewed inspiration to fly high and achieve your dreams and goals. I think we all need a change from time to time to recharge our batteries! Do you like the idea of a vacation...big or small? image credit - my own photo

I haven't gone on a big vacation in years, mostly due to we can't afford to. But I love going camping and would love to travel to another country sometime, but vacations are good, they give us a longer break and we can come back home refreshed and ready to move on.

@dianadee Me too, but my husband can't do the tent anymore, so I'm hoping to find a pop-up camper soon.

@Carmelanirel2 Pop up camper would be more comfy than a stretcher on the ground. A nice mattress makes a difference.

I really like to have a vacation. It is necessary. If we work all the time without breaks, we may have the health or mental problems. A vacation is the best chance for a whole family to spend nice time together. And we can learn more different culture, food, sightseeings from another country. The experience is valueable. Each year I look forward to have a vacation so that my family and I can have a quality travel.

This makes way to much sense. Oh, right. You are not from the U.S. (where making sense is frowned upon).

The main benefit of a vacation is probably psychological, but it does seem a long boring life if we never bother to travel anywhere.

Necessary? Maybe not, but they are great for the mind and soul. But sometimes a vacation is too much that you need a vacation from your vacation!

I do think that vacations can be good. They can be good for the mind. Sure, spending some vacations at home can be fun, but taking a vacation elsewhere can be nice and fun.

My man and I try to get somewhere warm and sand every winter. We're retired and love to just get away from the snow. Even just going south in the US is an adventure. It feels good and we bought into a time share years ago and are very happy we did. We can stay almost every where for around $200 a week. Can't beat that.

I believe everyone needs a vacation from work. In my younger days I felt it was more important to be paid out for my vacations instead of taking vacations. As I got older I realized how important it is to get away from work for a few days. As far as going places, I usually stick fairly close to home.

I love a vacation. It doesn't have to be lavish, just a day trip, or a drive in the country can be just the thing. When I could afford it, I went on some exotic trips, and I'm glad I did, but rich or poor, I will always go on vacation.

A vacation is just one part of our life, and we have to think about what we want out of it. For me, I like my vacation to get me far away from the work and housework. As long as I am not contactable, and I have a good time with my family and friends, that will be great.

Im little in favour of having a vacations as having working long time daily basis and having daily routine , so vacations gives us little time to relax and spend some extra time with family . Vacations should be pre planned and experts revirw should be read so that your vacation should be best experienced.

Most Americans do not take vacations, ever. They have fallen for the absurd and unhealthy Protestant work ethic myth. Everyone needs a break and benefits from travel, even retired people who no longer work.

Some people have made a conscious decision to spend almost all their inherited money, windfalls, and separate-property funds on vacations for themselves and their families. These people have done this at the expense of sacrificing home ownership and continuing to rent, sometimes against the wills of their spouses. Such people also have lived by this consistent goal of travel at the expense of sacrificing many of the normal goals of the mainstream of middle-class society. The reason is a desire to understand other societies, to be knowledgeable of the world and other cultures, and to make oneself a broad-minded person who can be tolerant and wise.
