You have to speak up for yourself

After reading about @gudheart's recent experience with not enough ice cream in his Ben and Jerry's peanut butter cup ice cream I gave him some advice. I told him to send a complaint letter. His response was he ate almost all of it so no evidence. I told him to use the product code numbers on the container. Several years ago I opened a can of mixed fruit, put some in a bowl and took a spoonful...right there where thankfully I could see it was a piece of metal. I hate to think what could have happened. I did write to the company, gave the the product information from the can. I received a reply and they also sent me a bunch of coupons. That was nice of them but I have to say I was a little unsure about trying their products again at that time! The bottom-line is this - if you feel that you didn't get what you paid for or you found something foreign in your fruit cocktail, the company needs to know. Look up the company info online and send them an e-mail or a letter. You have to speak up for yourself!

Yeah, customer feedback is important for them too. In that way they will look out for these mistakes if they are frequent. And we should clearly state the reason for our complaint without letting heated emotions getting in the way. Stating the problem fair and square is required.

Good comments, thanks for adding to mine! I waited a day until I sent my complaint just for that reason!

@AbbyGreenhill Happy to provide my views. Customer feedback is important, regardless of what people think usually. It's for the benefit of both us and them.

@ria1606roy Yes, it gives them an opportunity to learn about a problem they might not have known about previously.

If I encounter a problem with a product, I always write to the companies to let them know. Most of the time they are pleased, thank me and send me coupons for free products.

@AbbyGreenhill I can understand your frustration, I also went to a buffet only for one item.

That's what I've found also. One time we went to Golden Corral (it's a buffet joint) and I only like their rotisserie chicken...they were out - I asked why - I was told the truck didn't make a delivery. I sent an e-mail to the manager of that location and through her return e-mail offered by my husband and I free dinners. Luckily they had the chicken the day we went back! That is one of their stock items and they shouldn't be out of it.

I do speak for myself when I am not satisfied. And the companies usually are very good at fixing the problem.

I think they have come to realize that people will speak up if they aren't happy.
