Terrorist Attack - I have changed my profile picture on Facebook

India
November 15, 2015 1:15am CST
Hi, I am a member of facebook for past 8 years or more. I have seen things go viral for no reason. But that's okay everyone has their own perceptive for it. Well recently there was a rainbow profile picture, I don't remember why was it for. Now it becomes a trend of changing profile pics with certain events. There was a event digital India, everyone started changing profile picture. Terrorist attack, everyone started changing profile picture with an app again Do you think it will change anything in real word except you will be red-blue-white on facebook profile picture I know some will have a different view on it. So what you think of these ? Or is it way of saying that I can't do anything except changing profile picture after events ? Edit - Some created a post - In kenya 147 people/students were killed and no one is changing profile pic to kenya's flag What it will do ?

What sense that make my friend? What you people should do just prays to your god. I dont think it makes sense to change the profile picture.

I have noticed the huge numbers of people who are blending the French flag into their profile pictures, although I doubt if I will bother with it. It occurred to me as soon as the profiles began to appear that many may be following suit for fear of what others may think if they do not.

@Hatley I fully agree, but many people do simply comply rather than risk appearing as a non supporter. I saw no reason to follow the trend because it serves no realistic purpose.

People were killed also in Beirut and no-one did anything on Facebook so why did they only do it for an incident in a European country? I do things when I know why I am doing them and not because it just happens to be trendy and the "in" thing to do. I find that behaviour sickening

This happens in India every time, this time Modi govt in India is very serious against terrorism, but Europe (media) has something else. BBC and Guardian were blaming India of becoming intolerant, they do not know that it is always wise to be intolerant against terrorism.

No. I do not believe in things like these. I am grown old I believe and more so, I dont like to be known. I had logged into Facebook as one of my cousins had uploaded some Family Pics. And I saw many others change their Profile Pics. This changing of Images does no good to me or anyone out there on the planet. In my opinion it is just a show off of your faith and belief and to me, these are too personal a matter/subject.

I also just did that - changed profile picture with a flag of France . It's one way of commiserating with the sadness that France is experiencing .

Blindly following the herd! Yes, that's what they all mean - they can't do anything but spend more time on fb! Well regarding what is being said about Kenya, Nigeria, etc, please don't take the words literally.. It's the feeling with which it's said.. They mean that so much hype is being created about Paris attack, but there are places where such attacks are suffered on a daily basis, and nobody is airing their concern or trying to do something about it! And I agree with their feelings...

Previously it was the rainbow colors in support of gay people, now it's the French flag colors. Uhuh. Well I don't follow the trend but it's always nice to know how people stand on such issues.

I won't deny I am a bit disappointed with the way we are using social media. We opine and opine and never really come up with a solution that will take us as human beings forward.

People just want to piggie back on what is popular, it is their way of saying they were following a cause. The terrorist attack in France got a lot of sympathy because news programs over hyped it.

showing support and solidarity with France is both beautiful and a little degree of social hysteria - it goes without say that most of the World will be shocked, angered and frightened by the Parisian attacks precisely because most of the World are not Isis. I don't need to see a French symbol on someone's page to know they care but if people feel they need o display such solidarity that is fine

Leave your Profile picture flag for showing any such thing, peaceful people won't stop. But it is your picture, and U can use if for anything. You can use Kenya flag if you wan't but it is not digitally available in FB
