Many of you are familiar with my posting about the ten week cranberry harvest season. This is the fifth year I have been privileged to work the seasonal job at Ocean Spray in Carver, Massachusetts. We don't harvest the fruit from the bogs. We process the harvested fruit to ship to its next destination for becoming the goodies you have come to love. Ocean Spray is a co-op owned by the cranberry growers/farmers. By combining their resources, they all enjoy the latest in machinery, technology and development of new products. As a seasonal employee, it has been interesting watching the growth from year to year. I work in Quality Control. The hours are long and the work is strenuous. My body tones up and my bank account gets a needed fattening up.

Interesting. We just bought cranberries yesterday at our local farmers' market. These were grown in Bandon, Oregon, along the southern Oregon coast. Oregon has about 3000 acres of cranberries and ranks fourth or fifth in production in the US, behind your state of course.

Did you know that Chile has now joined in producing cranberries and those cute little oranges for the Ocean Spray family?

I never knew that Ocean Spray was a co-op; They should put that on their marketing! Glad the work has helped you physically and financially!

Actually they do. The website gives you a history of the co-op.

Co-ops are such a good idea. Glad you got the chance to benefit from the cranberry season.
