An obituary for Bubblews
What will we write about now? So many first time writers on here have started threads saying they came in from Bubblews and how bad things were getting there. We had threads on lost redemptions, searches for other friends we cherished talking to there hoping they found sanctuary and shelter here too, and wondering how much longer Bubblews would last.
Visit Bubblews now and all you will see is a single page saying they will be closing though in fact they have already locked up and gone. They could have given us time to go in to collect our things but our work vanishes with them if we didn’t save it before posting.
Like many, I was slowly deleting my posts from there but I still had over 2,000 to go. Links to them throughout Twitter and other sites are now useless.
We all knew this day was coming, like the day we have to finish sunbathing and catch the flight home ready to start work the next day. The party’s over, the fat lady sings, last orders, last waltz, goodbye, that’s all folks.
The Bubblews founders looked after themselves first, they took the money and ran, even beating the rats in the race to abandon their sinking ship.
They set up other get rich quick schemes for themselves that failed. There are rumours of investigations about their finances. Bubblews is dead, long live Mylot.

@arthurchappell The humans who originally owned our cat (the big grey one) did that. They ran away leaving the bills unpaid, the rent overdue and Baloo.

@boiboing that is horrible of them, and fortunate you were able to take care of Baloo

@GardenGerty had sent me a message that it was gone. A few weeks ago I started trying to go back...not writing, but leaving some comments here and there.
Yes, they should have put good notice so that we were able to save any posts we wanted to.
I don't think I really needed to save any of them. I had a few sewing tutorials that I would have liked to have kept, but I actually hadn't looked at them since they messed up and took all our additional pictures out of posts.

@arthurchappell Yes,they will feel disturbed about their debts forever. They are more speculators than businessmen.

I expect their debts will destroy them, rather than them getting rich on all this. They have no real business sense at all

I moved to myLot when Bubblews changed the pay scale yet again and I was only making 2-4 cents a post. It wasn't worth my time anymore. I just hung around because of the people I had met. Then when I found out that a lot of my friends had come to myLot, I moved here and I have never regretted it.

@arthurchappell I was trying to delete all my posts there, but they shut down before I could finish. I did save some of the stories I wrote, but they are useless now since I couldn't put them on any other site anyway.

I salvaged what I could but many are not even in the cached archives any more
