It's too late for Bubblews

Hopefully it's not too late for other writing sites. I have to say that its a feeling of the bitter-sweet. I had my good times there and some days I felt like leaving the site, but for some reason I continued to the very end. It may be late for Bubblews, but it's not to late for myLot. The main thing that caused that site to go under was not keeping up with promises to pay the writers and making it almost impossible to reach the 50 dollar minimum to redeem. So many writers left that site and as a result, not only was plagiarism a problem but revenue from ads was just not working well. There were 2 major factors in the fall of Bubblews in my opinion, which were mainly not being up front with the writers about how much they were able to actually pay for posts and mainly by remaining silent and not responding in a timely fashion to writers' issues. Alas, the big bubble has popped. I am moving on with myLot and happy to do so.

We all knew this day would come - it was a matter of "when". I hadn't been active there in a couple months or so though I poked my head in every now and then. I felt rather guilty for not completing my task there - to at least to finish out at 50 like I always said I would - but I was never ever going to make it the way things were. I never insulted the folks who remained - that was their choice - I'll be happy for them if they are happy. But for the site itself, shame on them.

Some people did the "I told you so" number. It is so childish to do so.

"it was a matter of "when"." I did tell them that they will last until maximum the February month of 2016 and I was indeed right about that. It lasted less than what I predicted

I was there until a week ago. It's a sad day for all those who continued to write and were optimistic about the site. I hope they find their way here.

I hung around until the end as well though I wasn't there as frequently. They did everybody wrong. Some folks would have liked the chance to retrieve some of their content too. I saved the ones that mattered to me so I don't care about that but the right thing to do would have been to give warning.

I thought I missed things because I was off line these past few days. Had to take the car to the shop and run errands and when I got up this morning I got a rude awakening.

Yes i agree, even if it was only the content that was available to save and not any commenting as no doubt there would have been war breaking out over the money etc!

@lookatdesktop You are probably correct. It does sound like something they would do to keep those near 50 at bay I think they deleted my account in March to keep me from racing ahead like I was. I was earning a dollar every 3 days and saw an end in the future. They squashed that drive and then I didn't earn much of anything after that. I was stuck around $31 for months.

That would be nice. 10 dollars as a sure thing versus 50 dollars that takes a year and I never reached the 50 dollar minimum. They kept the numbers down I think, on purpose, as they were skimming from the top I think but that is just my wild guess. I hope I am wrong about this.

Well said. I do understand why people left, but I was one who stayed. Mostly because I still enjoyed writing there. It does seem like they weren't keeping things up for the right reasons. But such is life. I think we should just respect our decisions to stay or leave.

It's a love-hate situation, kind of like a bad marriage of sorts.

No writer, as long has he or she is pursuing their craft, no matter where, should be considered, "less than" No person who is doing what they enjoy (as long as it is legal) should be considered "less than." Those who cannot see this is "less than."

Actually, does any one know how many original writers wrote for Bubblews in their nearly 3 years existence? 10,000? 50,000? How many actual writers remained the last few months when all seemed hopelessly lost? 50? 100? more or less? I just wonder.

@lookatdesktop I have no idea, but I was one who stayed up until the last month. I stayed not because of the thought of earning money but because of the connections I made there. I left when I realized those connections were mostly gone.

I'm with you. I don't understand why people have been so disparaging to those who stayed with Bubblews having hope that things would get better. So we were wrong. That doesn't mean were any less of human beings who are just trying to do the best they can and trust in others.

Many people have lost money there, I was at 43, it would be nice to see it go into my account but I can't see that happening.

I think Bubblews should apologize to everyone. I think that would be a good first step. In order for them to create a new site their reputation will be their undoing. Unless they made up for it somehow.

I wonder how much money everyone lost in total from lost payments, to money that vanished for no reason, to this mess

@Jessicalynnt I would see several pennies in the time after I wasn't there, but I did have a lot of posts that interested the people still over there.

That is a good question. I even wonder if the banks were accurate. Many writers indicated that their banks were frozen in spite of the number of posts they created from that point on. Sounds suspect to me.

Good point that for all its faults, Bubblews did provide a training ground for many people in learning to write for the web.

Many people from India and other countries shared their posts and some had difficulty but in spite of the language differences were doing their level best to put things in plain English.

What Bubblews should have done is just be up front with everyone and tell us all that the money was gone and that all our banks were zero dollars infinity zero, and that if we wanted we could continue writing at the site until we chose to either collect our posts and move on to a better site, that actually pays their writers but by not doing this, just up and running out on everybody was a cowardly act in my opinion.

I have to agree - there is no point in 'bashing' people just for writing on a site they enjoyed! Its a shame the way it all ended, but to be honest bubblews are hardly the first to do this and will certainly not be the last to do the same thing.....unfortunately its just one of those things that goes along with online earning - lots of people start things without knowing how to run them!

Some only had Bubblews to rely on. It's sad that so many lost theie redemptions and I believe we all deserved a warning beforehand. I'm talking about a formal farewell. Oh well. We must move on to better things.

What of all the writers from India? They lost money and they were actually more active in the beginning phase. I think they were also a major source of plagiarism and spamming.

Some people a year or more ago threatened a Better Business Lawsuit and they got their money, but having to go this far to redeem is just too much trouble. I could earn 50 dollars by mowing my neighbor's lawn and sweeping his sidewalk all in under an hour and a half.

I was there until just a couple of months ago. I don't think anyone should speak badly of anyone who stayed until the end. It shows loyalty and that is a good thing.

You have to comment a lot on what people write. You get rewarded for that as well as for starting discussions
