Do you give money to beggars?

Interesting question! Firstly, i would classify all the beggars to those skilled in some art (painters, musicians, acrobats, magicians...) and those who just sit and beg money. There is also a type of beggars in Russia, who wear camouflage and claim they fought in Afghanistan or Chechnya. Plenty of beggars dwell in city centers or near the churches. When it is religious holiday, I attend church service and see line of these people in front of the entrance, like that on the picture. The curious thing is that they gather together in group only when religious holiday. They know, people who attend church service will give them some money for sure. True Christian should give money to all of them in a line, otherwise it will look like an unfair deed. Moreover giving to those who ask for is a sign of mercy. As for me, i try to give money either to the beggars who are skilled in something, or to church beggars. But we shouldn't forget that begging may also turn into somebody's dishonest business. At the same time i think my duty is to give, and if the person is profane, it will be his fault, not mine.

Yes! On occasion Ill give a little bit. But I usually try to give them something like food or a soda if I have one on me. A lot of people refuse to give panhandlers any money for a variety of reasons....But I just figure, if I was down on my luck....I would hope there would be some generous folks out there!

It's against the law here for anyone, beggars especially, to demand money from people. Police can be called & they will get all the money taken, giving it back to the owners. These signs by police are posted on shop windows in the city. I give money to street performers, as you mentioned, but will give to any who approach me specifically. I like to buy them a vegan takeaway of their choosing! I do this often, as I don't carry cash!

I give money to beggars. If they fool me it is not my problem, for I know I give some alms from my heart.

Our authorities request us not to give money to the beggars. Most of them are only dishonest people who prefer to ask for money than to work.

i think we should not judge someone worth it or not because God has given us many things we dont deserve but we do consider a little bit of screening criteria to discourage professionals
