The Big Boy Department Store Santa Claus Forgot

Back in 1980, and barely out of school, facing my first long period of unemployment when the Thatcherite government had to admit there were three million people out of work, I actually applied to one department store about being their grotty grotto Father Christmas. The interviewer dismissed me right away for not being fat enough. Now in 2015, thirty five years on, I weigh eighteen stone instead of twelve. I am very tempted to find that interviewer, and burst into his office dressed as Santa yelling, ‘well how about now?’ but I expect he won’t remember me. Yo-Ho-Ho and all that humbug! Arthur Chappell

I think it would be fun to be Santa although I'm sure it would be very tiring.

'd be like Tommy Lee Jones in Bad Santa, struggling to hide my cynicism and angered by kids pulling my beard to see if it was fake

I have dressed as Santa for photo shoots - not sure if I'd be patient enough to put up with lots of the more unruly children coming to see me

I'm sure you would have made a great Santa! Couldn't they have just fluffed you with some pillows?

that particular store has gone now - I did work for them one Christmas, in the stock room not as Santa

@Jessicalynnt I'm sure you'd be a great Mrs. Claus - I would just (as Mr. C) want to keep all the cool toys for myself
