In recent days, Charlie Sheen was interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show, and he announced to the world that he is HIV-positive. Although the announcement was a shock, the fact he has it is not so shocking, given the lifestyle he has chosen to lead. Apparently, over the past several years he has been paying people who have known about his condition tons of money to keep quiet. Either someone was about to spill the news, or he finally decided he was tired of being extorted, so he finally decided to tell the world himself. Interestingly, knowingly having sex with someone without telling them you are HIV-positive is a crime, so he has now set himself up for possible criminal charges, as well as civil lawsuits. So far, six women have come forth announcing they plan to sue. If Charlie thinks he was paying out a lot of money before, wait until he starts getting hit with all these lawsuits! What are your thoughts about Charlie Sheen and his condition?

I don't quite get the reason behind doing an interview about it and telling the world. It should be something he deals with in private behind the media attention.

@moffittjc Oh right. I can imagine most of his ex friends were threatening him when money is involved.

@gudheart It just shows the type of people he has been associating with. They care more about taking his money than trying to help him. Very sad.

It was because he was being extorted for millions of dollars from people who knew he had the virus. He was tired of paying them "hush" money, and decided to come forward and tell the world. Now all those people can't threaten him and take his money any longer.

Sounds slightly off topic but don't you find sometime the roles actors play reflects the personality they actually have. Maybe producers cash in on that perhaps. His movies and tv series character was well

@moffittjc Maybe it gives them ideas? Since we role around bed on the set do you want to roll around bed instead? - check spelling.

To tell you the truth, I couldn't care less about famous people who constantly put themselves in trouble.

It's interesting to see them think they can live their lives with reckless abandon and not have to pay any of the consequences. So sad.

I lost interest in him years ago. He really had talent. What a shame he decided to live such a questionable life.

In the end though, nobody is responsible for his life and his actions except him. As much as I'd like to feel sorry for him, he brought this upon himself. Not to say that I think he deserves to have HIV, but that he should have learned to surround himself with better people who could help look after him.

He acted like an idiot before he found out he was ill. He acted like an idiot when he endangered the lives of others for his own pleasure. He acted like an idiot by paying out millions of dollars to keep this a secret. Three strikes.

So true, not revealing to be HIV positive is a crime, I imagine he will be ready to pay a lot of money.

If he would have kept quiet, he would be paying out millions in "hush" money to keep people quiet. Now that he has revealed his affliction, he will not be paying out millions in legal fees. Either way, this is going to cost him financially.

I heard about this a few days ago and I was shocked. I had read that his ex and kids are negative which is good. I wonder how he got it.
