Scientists in China have identified bacteria which may be resistant to polymyxins, a group of antibiotics which are the last line of defence in the treatment of infection. One of the bacteria types is a strain of E.Coli, and other thypes of microbes cause lung infections. Researchers also discovered that E.Coli present in infected meat has the ability to transfer polymyxin immunity to other bacteria. Apparently there is no imminent danger, but this will become a serious issue in the future.
