Bubblews - I-9 and the IRS

I was just wondering how Bubblews handled their closing tax issues. I know a more than a few people made over $600 from January to October. Of course if they want to get their benefit from the IRS on the payments they have to report it. But how will we get I-9's? I don't mean to sound ugly, but they can't just take their ball and go home and end the game like they did with the writers.

Okay, here is my conspiracy theory kicking in. They deliberately sabotaged the site so it will be a tax write off, because at least on paper they lost money. I think the last few payouts were to document that they were indeed involved in a business. They will have a slick lawyer help them come out of this smelling like roses.

So they closed one site down and opened a new one right away... Just like how they closed scammers account on their site before, yet let the scammers to come right back on a new account. Obviously, they're the biggest scammers of all...

I was just thinking that. Quite what the revamp was about I am not sure. Most of the changes were cosmetic and I don't really going they were that hard to do for a software engineer.

actually, this is highly plausible. i still can't accept the explanation that they used to pay members beyond what the site actually earned.

You probably won't get a 1099. Just put yourself down as self-employed/freelance. Your Paypal statements should suffice. Let Arvind worry about his own taxes.

I did not make enough to worry about it. I hardly think you will get your I-9.

I would have thought that the only people making over $600 since January were the site owners. The rest of the people using the site barely made anything.

I don't think Bubblews will be issuing any tax documentation, so writers must keep their own records.

@Magnolia2 I guess we don't. You can't reach a company that's unreachable.
