I've been going to an allergist for nearly a decade. He gives me pulmonary function tests to monitor my asthma every time I see him. He prescribes and monitors my asthma medication. He mentions the status of my asthma in his notes ("it's stable," "poorly controlled"). Today I contacted him, telling him that I needed a statement for the VA. He called me and told me, point blank, he cannot provide the statement. Why? His rationale was, "I DON'T TREAT YOUR ASTHMA." Okay, if he says so. Looks like I'll be looking for a new allergist.
