At work since Spring we've been trying to sell an insurance product. Anytime we sell this product my credit union earns a percent of the profit and it goes right to our bottom line.
The insurance company is offering us incentives to try to sell this product also. If we get any of our members to sign up to get a quote from the insurance company, we get a $10 gift card and so does the member.
Over the summer I collected a bunch of gift cards. I requested gift cards to a grocery store, and then used them for things like a picnic at the beach, or the night we went to the drive in movies I bought snacks.
I stopped trying to sell the insurance for awhile, it just got tiresome. But the other day I realized I could use these gift cards as gifts for my kids' teachers for Christmas.
So the other day I began trying again. I got 2 in one day, and requested gift cards to a coffee shop. So now i have those 2 gift cards and my younger son's teachers are taken care of.
I will try to get a few more gift cards. I could use them for the bus driver, the babysitter... if I get a bunch of I might even give some to my own kids in their stockings.
I wish I'd thought of it sooner!

We've always given our bus driver a gift.. usually it's just a $5 gift card to a coffee shop, but I figure they appreciate that.
