Home cooked food is what one looks forward to specially by those guests that always depend on hotel food. The last item that gets ready is that which is filled with aroma just in time when the guests arrive. And in my case it is the pullao with basmati rice where cashew nuts and raisins and onions are first fried in pure ghee. That aroma can make anyone hungry and waiting.

That does sound rather enticing. I do very little entertaining these days. But right now I'm off to prepare a prawns and vegetable dish for dinner for my husband and I. I need to look it up, but is pillao similar to what I call paella?

It is not the same. Had to look for paella. It is a rice preparation.

Yes, those who often eat food in hotel will enjoy home cooked food, they will have new experience of meals. I always cook foods by myself when I have guests, if I have enough time, I think it is one way for us to appreciate the guests.

Any special occasion could be identified by the smell one gets in one's kitchen

@allknowing True, Thanksgiving is turkey and in the summer it is anything on the grill.

Your dish looks delicious, I like the smell of homemade lasagne, while they bake in the oven.

@LadyDuck There was a bakery close to our school. I knew those owners. We used to get a few minutes recess around tea time. Some of us would run there and inhale that aroma. They would also give us some small sized(just around 2" in size) hard bread hot and fresh.
