After taking our leave of Availles-Limouzine, we headed to Confolens and later Ile de Jourdain. We have visited both these places before. Both times, driving into Ile de Jourdain, we were blown away by the picturesque nature of the town. We drove over another beautiful stone bridge with a big waterwheel on the bank, a huge viaduct up the valley a little. There is an ancient church and narrow, steep streets which made manouevring our vehicle a bit tricky.
I hope you have time to look at the slideshow. Looking back from the viaduct, the stone bridge has baskets of bright flowers attached to the sides. Car-racing is held there regularly but we were several weeks too early for the next meeting. From the top of the magnificent viaduct our motor-home looked like a Dinky toy. Apparently the viaduct is used for bungee jumping now.
We were in the Poitou region which gives its name to the Poitou donkey, an ancient breed which has a coat which often curls into ringlets. We camped just off the road in what we would call a truck bay and in the field next to us was a donkey which I thought might have been a Poitou. But he didn't have a very long coat and he was a bit moth-eaten. However he was much taller than the more common donkey so I'm telling myself it was a Poitou.

'twould be like a breathe'f fresh air to see such efforts 'round these parts to make schtuff so filled with color'n vibrancy. alas, 'tis diff'cult to e'en get folks to grow much more'n weeds!

@crazyhorseladycx I saw a YouTube clip where a guy has these big mules and they were virtually rock-climbing. Very impressive. One mule in Australia did really well as an endurance mount.
