Why it is a good thing that the weatherman is always wrong

It was cold last night. Cold enough to slip that thermostat indicator above 60 for a few minutes, just to take the chill off the bedroom. And it's cold this morning.
When it's very cold, I like to try to impress The Boy with hard numbers, hoping to convince him to dress appropriately.
So, I just checked the forecast and it says that today's high temp will be 44 F and today's low temp will be 27 F. That low of 27 sounds cold. Yet, the temperature right now is 20 F.
So, the temperature right now is lower than the forecasted low and both of these numbers are displayed on the weather website right next to one another. Because, if you're a weather forecaster, you can do that. You can predict a lowest-possible temperature that is higher than the current temperature and still keep your job.
I thought wouldn't it be great if the weatherman actually got the weather forecast right? ] Just think, you would know for sure if you needed a sweater or an umbrella or a snow shovel. But after some consideration, I decided that we are lucky that the forecast is usually wrong.
Think of how many times the television weatherman has hyped a coming blizzard and in the end, all that fell were a few, wet snowflakes? Think of all the floods that never happened. Think of the long-term forecasts? What if some of those ever came true?
Occasionally, they underestimate a storm, but on the whole, the weather guy gives us the most exciting weather forecast he can think of, given the meteorological conditions. And we are lucky that his exaggerated outcomes never materialize.
Today's optimism will have to be overlooked. I have to remember all the hurricanes they predicted that never came near us and all the blizzards that turned out to be rain.
Are you ever glad that the weatherman was completely wrong?

I am glad that the weatherman was completely wrong today, we did not get the announced snow. I hope he will be wrong tomorrow too. The coldest city of Switzerland (La Brévine) las night reached the low temperature of -16.6 F (-27 Celsius). This place is called the Swiss Siberia.

I don't pay much attention unless I'm going to be traveling or camping. My husband plans his day around the weather report, he know what he can and can't do by listing to that exaggerator on the TV and radio. I figure every day is a crap shoot when it comes to weather, I just go with the flow. And yes, I am glad when the weatherman goofs.

I rarely take notice of the forecasts and just look out the window on any given day - the view right now is wretched

The weathermen here are usually correct. It is easier to see what is coming along the coast, I guess. Sometimes something comes faster or slower, and amounts of rain will be right, but fall a little to the north or south, but that's because timing and upper level winds are variable. Since I have lived here most of my life, I am always able to figure out the weather from what is predicted (reading the maps helps).

@Rollo1 Probably. I think it has something to do with both air and ocean currents.

Most of the time weathermen are right in the short run. It's more unpredictable a few days past the current day.

Unfortunately the weatherman said it will be cold with frost and he was absolutely correct.

It could be problem if the correct weather report was given because it would catch us unawares. I have never understood how someone can study the subject for many years and then use computers with specially written software to process data from satellites around the globe and get tomorrow's weather totally wrong.
You would do better to ask the local farmer.

It got down to 28 last night or this morning rather. It did warm up to 59 today though.

Oh yes. At times we see the satellite images and see the grey skies coming our way. Then all of a sudden a gust of wind someone out in the middle of the ocean blows them away. It is nice when they are wrong and I have found out here on the islands they can be wrong a lot.
