From Moulins, we travelled on to Dijon and beyond. The first few photos on the slideshow show our surroundings at the Lac de Arrouettes where we camped after leaving Moulins. It was a lovely spot. We drove into Dijon and we had a lot of trouble finding parking. We found a parking area but had trouble and I had to try out my French over the intercom system. The bar suddenly raised and this disembodied voice told us to go through. I thought we'd have trouble coming out as we didn't have a ticket but as I went to try the intercom again, the bar lifted and we were on our way. So they must be watching from up above somewhere.
We walked through the main square and enjoyed watching the young ones playing under the water fountains. At the cathedral we saw more lovely windows and horrible gargoyles. On one corner of an outside wall is a 'lucky owl' which we rubbed in the hope it would bring us good luck. Inside, one of the candles was finding the going a bit hot. In the town itself, we were intrigued with the half-timbered houses and the mosaic-patterned roofs.
After leaving Dijon we drove through farmland and made a detour to a mansion, only to find it was closed. We parked in the shade and had lunch before moving on to Riox Caravan Park, passing some great limestone cliffs on the way. We were heading towards Germany at this stage.
The park, along with many other parks we stayed in, was situated near water. We were surprised by the number of lakes in the areas we travelled through. The French and Germans certainly love their swimming and water sports. It was here that I was stung by my first wasp. It wasn't to be the last.

We left Australia in May and didn't return till November. We were very lucky not to have been in France when the attacks took place.

Sorry to hear that were stung. Thankfully you are not allergic as is my daughter where one sting could kill her if she doesn't get a shot of epinephrine quickly. I enjoyed the pictures!

We rubbed that same lucky owl when we visited Dijon. We stayed out at the Toison D'Or. We took the bus into town so didn't have to deal with parking.

We tried to use a Park and Ride in England but there was a height restriction at the entry so again we couldn't get in to park.
