This January Sesame Street will start a new 46th season. They are making a lot of changes with a new bilingual character, new home and even some high profile celebrity guests as well. They have a five year deal now with HBO. They announced this last summer that they will present some new episodes on HBO starting January 16th. This a new platform for Sesame Street which debuted back in 1969 on public television and has been there up until now. Episodes will appear on HBO Latino as well. After a nine month time period the new episodes will be available on PBS also. The theme song has been updated and the show will be 30 minutes instead of the usual 60 minutes that it was previously. There will be a new villain name The Crumb among other changes to the characters residences and changes. Nina, played by Suki Lopex will be a new cast member, a Hispanic bilingual woman. She works at a laundromat and bike store. She will provide a positive role model for preschoolers and help the residents of Sesame Street to solve there daily problems. Did you bring up your children with this show. I did. Grand child too. Such a cute and imaginative show. I am glad it will still be around for the new generation. Image courtesy of Flickr.com

I'm the same age as the show. I grew up watching Sesame Street. Where I lived, with limited available tv channels, there wasn't much else to watch. However, for some reason I hated Sesame Street as a child. With the exception of Cookie Monster, all the other characters annoyed the hell out of me, even as a youngster. My kids did watch Sesame Street when they were little, and I even used to take them to see Sesame Street Live and Sesame Street on Ice!

My daughter is just a couple of years younger. We had limited television viewing back then too. I can sort of see why you might have been irritated by some of the characters. It is a positive thing for kids.

It's hard to believe that Sesame Street TV show has been around for so long. I discovered it when our first son was born.

Me too. I happened to see it on late one night and peeked in for a few minutes. It is as cute as ever. I didn't have it around when I was young but my daughter started the family tradition of watching it.

We have a video (oh I'm showing my age) of our son crawling around on his first birthday. When the Sesame Street song came on the television he stopped crawling and starting kind of rocking back and forth, like he was dancing to the music. He just loved that show. I still have his stuffed Ernie from way back then.

That sounds so cute. Mine did the same thing when the show came on. The show is so great. Can't believe it has been around so long.

Me too. It's one I almost want to 'make' my grand kids watch.
