Having covered the daytime job fair and welfare meeting on a previous post, I’ll deal with the more relaxed pleasant late afternoon and evening activity now. I had a few hours to kill after my welfare hearing so I used both the local and central libraries for their computer usage and some general reading too. I then went to a real ale group’s award presentation for North Manchester’s ‘most improved pub’, an annual presentation for bars that have increased their real ale promotion and choices for drinkers in the last twelve months. The award went deservedly to The Smithfield Inn, in the Northern Quarter, who served up pork pies and pickled eggs to everyone afterwards too. A very enjoyable event after such a demanding day.
