It is wonderful having a stash of freezer bags filled with two cups of puree. The puree comes from the Halloween pumpkins I rescue from the landfills by asking for them from those that have them as decor.
In addition to the pumpkin breads, I also make pumpkin pies. The bag of puree makes two pies, one for my Dave and one to give away. His mother got one for her Thanksgiving dinner. Dave has been having a piece with vanilla bean ice cream all this week. Pumpkin Custard Pie is his favorite.
The people that let me have their pumpkins get a bread or pie in exchange. I offer them their choice and which holiday they would like their choice for. I decorate the tops of the breads with the sweet roasted seeds from within. My savory and sweet pumpkin seeds are also in high demand.

@irenen1 now that you mention it, yeah, where do jack o'lanterns end up? you've come up with a win-win solution.
