I think I'm funniest when I don't mean to be...

I received a phone call this morning from a company called... shoot, I can't remember what's it's called. I had seen an ad online for them where they would advocate on my behalf to try and get the government to give me a disability tax credit. I applied almost 4 years ago and went through the whole process only to be turned down again. It seems one gets put back in a queue and gets re-assessed and mine came up. I had to answer the 9 standard questions again. Honestly it was a very serious conversation but I am frustrated with being sick and being ignored by the government. The gentleman I spoke with was very professional and serious, but he couldn't help but crack up laughing at some of the things I said. We have a new Prime Minister who wants to legalize marijuana. I wrote the previous Prime Minister about how many times I have asked for help and been told to go away. At that time I was told my email would be forwarded to the proper department and of course I never heard anything again. I told the gentleman today I was thinking of writing our new Prime Minister but he would probably give me a medical marijuana script and send me on my way. I was serious, sort of, but it sure cracked that man up. So did my request to my doctor for a prescription to move to Hawaii. I like it when I can make people laugh. I like to think I made his day somehow. I did not feel like he was laughing AT me. Unfortunately, the call ended with me in tears and I continued to cry for another 20 minutes after I got off the phone. I have to jump through hoops again, go back to my doctor, get her to fill out forms again, pay her to do it, and send them back to this organization. Fortunately (or unfortunately) my health has worsened so maybe I'll get it this time. If I do it could be retroactive to 1997 when I was first diagnosed. That would be a wonderful winfall. Anyway, that's the way my day started and I've been pretty down all day, except when I think of that man's laugh ringing in my ears.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with the authorities. Possibly that guy you spoke to doesn't get to have too many laughs in his day so good for you!

I was really pissed off when right off the top I asked him if he knew what my problem was. He thought I had Huntington's Disease. Don't know where he got that from. And he had no knowledge of fibromyalgia. So many people are aware of this illness and no someone who has it I was dumbfounded that this guy was pretty much clueless when it came to the illness.

@patgalca You'd think they'd train their employees in some general background knowledge about various diseases.
