Last Saturday , was another test of my self control when it comes to eating on occasions. It was the first birthday of another grandchild of my other sibling . There were lots of foods . There was of course once again the star of an occasion , the lechon or roasted whole pig in English . Well, of course I ate the skin of the lechon but not as much as I would do before . I am medicating my high cholesterol , so I have to have control in my eating specially that of meats and fatty foods . And I was so happy, because I only chose the foods I ate and only small portions . Maybe the thought of high cholesterol scared me this time , because after eating a few portions of some foods I chose , I was already too full , until evening , since the eating was at late afternoon already . I just enjoyed watching the clowns make the kids laugh and play . How’s everybody today ? I have a lot of catching up with all of you guys .

@SIMPLYD I can understand.I have already undergone hunger and piles of work lying undone before me.I had to control myself and finish my works first.

Abstinence is easier than moderation.

For me , it's easier to be moderate than to abstain . The more that i will crave for a food if i abstain . So on occasions where there are lots of foods , the key is to just eat small portions of the foods . At least you get to taste them.

that is indeed a test of your self-control, my lady. with the mouth-watering crispy skin of the lechon, I think you have to have faith in yourself that you will 'surpass' the temptation of food. well done.

@ridingbet Well , at least i get to taste it , so i will not be drooling and craving for it more . Anyway , lechon is only on big occasions like this , so take the opportunity of eating it , but in moderation .

@SIMPLYD temptations come in different forms. I am glad you were able to resist taking a bite with the lechon. maybe somebody bit a piece right in front of you to test if you will give in. self-control at its best.

It's a good thing that you are concerned about your health, but do not renounce completely to the food you like.

Wow! You look great in that pic, amiga! BTW, re food. It was good because you just chose a little portion of what you wanted to eat. We can still have a taste of all of those as long as we're still alive & healthy!

Correct ! Just small portions of those foods of our choice won't hurt us much . That's the happiness of being alive - eat well though in moderation .

It takes a lot to change eating habits and it sounds like you are on your way. Congrats on this one and now you know what to look for. One thing I don't like is eating late at night. I would rather eat early so my food can settle before I sleep. If I eat late I feel stuffed all night and can't sleep. Normally for me around 2 or 3 is perfect and I can then sleep good. I don't usually sleep more than a few hours each night so when I eat late I normally go to sleep around 2 or 3 in the morning and I am always up around 5 to 6. So you see eating earlier is better for me because then I can sleep around midnight.

Thank you for saying that . You are right . We shouldn't be eating late in the evening because we still have to wait at least 2 hours after that for us to be able to go to sleep.

It was difficult indeed . But seeing all those many foods seems to suddenly made me feel like i don't want them anymore . It could be because i was thinking that i am medicating my cholesterol .
