Stollen - with Rum Butter

To get me in a more festive mood, I popped into my local Woolworths to see what was available from the International market. The food from EUROPE definitely TASTES better than anywhere else in the world. Chocolates like @LadyDuck explains, tastes and smells like heaven, even the coffee smells better than anywhere i've been. So I found a Stollen - made locally but smells like Europe. A fine German Christmas treat most people like. A Christmas Stollen is aType Fruit cake, origin - Germany Region or state - Saxony Step one, i have something to revitalize some spirit within, but that's not all - I was given three beautiful Big Red and White bells to hang at my window. So the spirit is on the way.

I like Stollen, the niece called half an hour ago to say that she is coming the next Thursday (with fiancee) and they asked for a home made Stollen. Why have I always too cook!

@LadyDuck Oh how absolutely fabulous that all sounds - You see I can even smell the food from here and its only in the THOUGHT stages - Thoughts transpire to my tongue and then I smellllllll . . . I see you read my daughters post about her Bruschette recipe. I think we will have that every day till Christmas - that will cheer me up.

Because you make memories with them, and dont moan, its wonderful when the family want the REAL DEAL - we can all go buy it in the shops, but it doesnt taste the same. MMMM I wish i was there to have some of your homemade Stollen - I am off to have some with my Coffee.

I had it as a child as my Grandmother had some German family - but then there was the gap until i went to Europe and bought it there again - the real Dresdan one, I hope this one will be as good.

Talking about Woolworth's I got some chocolates from that Mall in Queensland, Australia some years ago. They were just in a creal open with no wrappings. Honestly i have never tasted such delicious goodies considering that no fuss was made wrapping them in any fancy paper nor in any fancy boxes.

Isn't that Stollen full of raisins? Once i bought it in one of expensive supermarkets and it was written "made in Germany" on the sticker. And i really havent seen so much raisin in a loaf before

It has raisins, but not that many - it is dear - I paid $12 for my small little cake loaf
