Do any of you remember a fun American song called “The Clapping Song”? I just recently heard it on the radio and it made me feel really good and got me smiling so I thought I would post it for all of you. This song was written by Lincoln Chase and recorded in 1865 by Shirley Ellis. The lyrics of this song were borrowed from the song “Little Rubber Dolly” which was recorded in the 1930s by the Light Crust Doughboys and it featured instructions for a clapping game. The song went on to sell more than a million copies.
“The Clapping Song” returned to the charts in 1982 with a version by Belle Star and in 1983 there was a version sung by Pia Zadora.
