Cooper Place here is....

being vacated as of tonight. That is where the homeless live here. The Mayor has deemed it a health hazard for them to remain there any longer. Some of the homeless are taking heaters into the tents and that could cause smoke poisoning. They have also been reports of theft, fights and trash that is rotten. The homeless have several options here in town as to places to go and are all getting vouchers from The Salvation Army worth $140 to help them out. Do you have this issue in your area?

I think the homeless is an issue all over the country. More so in large cities though like NYC. It is a shame that there are so many homeless in this country. That goes to show you how greedy the top percent in this country is.

You are certainly right. What about the top percent? I think our Mayor is a great guy to want to help relieve this problem.

@celticeagle The city politicians sometimes do want to really help, but it all comes down to budgets.

We live out in the country so I'm not sure what the homeless people do here unless they travel to larger cities.

@celticeagle I hadn't even thought about it until I read your post. Now I am also wondering where they go or if we even have homeless people here. I'm sure we do but I don't know where they are.

Atleast they are being helped out and not just tossed away. We have shelters around but well it's about a 30 minute drive away. We have a homeless man that's been outside near our neighborhood for about four months. Some days we don't see him. He has a tent in some foliage, and what looks like heavy blankets.

That s what they had here. A tent city and it was becoming a hazard.

@celticeagle I would definitely think so with those heaters. I'm just surprised there wasn't an actual building constructed for them to sleep in.

Here as well. But, the sad part is that some homeless don't want the help.

every where in this country is that same horrible issue. we are told we live in one of the richest countries in the world yet we seem to have less rich people. and more homeless. who knows why. most rich have not much care for the homeless. it is sad. the salvation army has always been my first charity when I have money. they are my heros

A lot of places have programs for the homeless but they don't want to take part in them.

We don't have much of a problem with the homeless where I live. The Salvation Army is my favourite charity, that's great of them to help out those people with cash.

I don't have any in my area, very small town but the cities around us do and they take care of those who are willing to be cared for. Many want to sleep outside but its soon going to be too cold to manage that.

That is the problem. Some do not care to be cared for. It's already too cold here. In the teens some nights. It's been chilly inside. Had to turn the heat up.

We have several shelters for the homeless. My oldest stays in one of them. No, he can't live with me - it has never worked between us - we've tried. This is the best option for him.

And there are so many issues like this. So many different reasons for them being homeless.
