Who believes in reincarnation?

I am often thinking about stuff like this. I have read many books and of course everyone remembers when Shirley McClain came out, everyone thought she was nuts. But what if one person dies and is indeed reincarnated and put back into your life? One this little boy told me "I remember when you used to give me rides home." His mother laughed it off but he was serious and he thanked me. Do you believe?

The Holy Bible says that it is appointed once unto man to die, and after that to face the judgement. The belief in reincarnation allows people to pretend they don't have to responsible for their actions.

@1creekgirl I'm a believer but what I understand is we do take responsibility for our actions. Keep in mind it was man who wrote the Bible as a teaching source (lessons to be learned) for man when he became social and moved out of caves and needed to live in communities.

I'm with you on what the Bible says and the resurrection makes much more sense to me.

But like I said above, what if God does indeed sends us [ our soul] out for a mission after one life

No. Absolutely not. I do not believe in Reincarnation. I believe in the Resurrection. Can't believe in both. I chose. I'm rooted and grounded in the faith and I shall not be moved.

I'm like you. I have to decide for one or the other. Since Jesus taught the resurrection and not reincarnation, I'll stick with him.

@andriaperry It's more based on your behavior. It's meant as an escape as much of a reward. Life here on earth is pretty terrifying for many, so coming back is not something they want to do. However, it is an option or a punishment.

I do believe I will go to heaven, what I am asking is do we always stay there or does God send us back on another mission?

I didn't believe in it in 1543 and I don't believe in it now either.

@andriaperry Absolutely, your question filled in the piece I was waiting for to germinate the seed of the idea. Be careful, or I might mention you in the acknowledgements.

I don't know if it's reincarnation or if something else is going on in these cases. But I do believe something IS going on. I hope one day to know what that something is. I have met people for the first time in this life but know them.

I am fascinated by the idea of reincarnation and second chances to correct past mistakes in life. But I'm a bit unsure if I should believe it until it happens to me and I actually remember it happening.

I do not comment on your question. Because I can't say I believe in Reincarnation since we do not have scientific proof, nor I can say it's not possible. You need to be there at the incident to say who is the thief. But if you are not present at the incident, you can't say someone is not the thief. Understood my point ?

I suppose in the instance with the little boy it would have been his own past life to which he referred?
I am of two minds on this subject. Part of me believes that it is quite possible while another wants to deny it as impossible.
I do believe there is a void of things that can not be explained by normal circumstance however.

I don't know, I am open minded about it. But I am also agnostic, so it stands to reason I should not believe it. Still there are a lot of curious stories, like some children who have adult memories and suddenly speak different languages.

I have read a number of very convincing accounts of children remembering past lives that they would not have any knowledge of otherwise. These types of stories come from all over the world and are being studied seriously by many researchers. It is also true that reincarnation was part of the early Christian belief system that was removed from the bible in the fourth century. For those reasons I believe in reincarnation. I wish I didn't, however, because it's pretty depressing to think you go through all this only to have to come back here.

Yes, I do very much so. I think we are with a small group of the same souls in many different lifetimes.
