Hangovers

How many of you woke up with a hangover this morning, after a fun and crazy Saturday night last night? It's okay, you can admit it! Well, just think about this: a hangover is just your body reminding you that you're an idiot! haha I'm kidding of course! You're not really an idiot, but I bet you sure can't party like you could in your younger days, when your body was much more forgiving of your abuse of it! I remember in my college days I could drink like a fish all night long, and barely have a headache the next day. These days, I look at a bottle of alcohol and I have a pounding migraine! I remember a morning not too many years ago when I woke up with a raging hangover, only to hear my best friend tell me, "Just think, you paid a lot of money to feel that way!" I'm sure glad I don't party like I used to! Anybody out there have any good hangover stories to share?

I haven't been hungover in years. Part of that is due to the fact that I tend to be the DD, and another is that I generally still have my kids to care for.

I figured that when my kids were born it was time to grow up and be responsible. My kids are older now, both teenagers, so I still try to set a good example for them. But, I'll admit, there are occasional times throughout the year when I'll have a little too much to drink. Never when the kids are around, mind you! But I do still like to have a little fun every now and then!

@moffittjc Well, you are still allowed to have some fun! I am thinking that once my kids are teenagers that they may drive me to drink. Haha. They are still relatively young(2,4, and 10), so while they are slowly getting a little more self sufficient, they still need a bit of adult supervision.

@Morethanamom I always tease my daughter, who just got her driver's license, that she can now be a designated driver for me when I go out! She just rolls her eyes at me! lol

@moffittjc lol That is true though. You're not only paying for a good time but for the negative outcome too. I remember when I first had a lot to drink. I couldn't walk straight. I was laughing my head off at just about anything. I haven't been that drunk in ages. Much more fun when you're with others though.

It is definitely more fun when you're with a group of friends, but the hangovers still feel just as bad the next day! haha

Hangovers tend to be a thing of the past for me because I very rarely drink these days due to high blood pressure.

My blood pressure was starting to creep up me, but I started working out and exercising more, and it really improved my overall health, including my blood pressure. But still, that's a good reason not to drink at all, or so much.

@moffittjc I do not have the same opportunity for exercise due to having narrowing veins which induce oxygen deprivation much faster.

My husband reckons it isn't the drink that gives you the headache because you mostly go to bed feeling fine. It's the sleep that does it, he says. You're okay until you have that sleep.

That's funny! I never really thought of it that way! I guess the answer is to just stay up all night and you'll be fine! lol

@moffittjc That's his thinking but he can never quite manage it.

The hangover gets worse with age I am finding out, the older I get the worse it gets for me. It takes me days to recover versus overnight when I was young..

I think that's the worst part! I can handle a hangover the next day, as that is to be expected, but when it drags on for an entire week, well...that just sucks!
