Will you take some recommendations?

List. Top books and the bookstore recommends them. But i don't really take those recommendations. I look for other books. Trying not to go with the flow. For i remember a line that says, "only dead fish go with the flow." I never asked for book recommendations. But i always recommend. Haha. If i ever read a good book review, i will think twice of buying one. Try to convince me more. Haha. I am more of discovering books rather than asking for a tip on what to read. Will you buy some or try to discover good books aside from the recommended?

Avoiding good books because someone thinks they are good makes no sense to me.

I completely agree. But I think she means, the reviews as they appear on Internet. Not sure though.

The book maybe good on them, but not good on me. I was once recommended by a friend but didn't liked it. Phasing is too slow. Dialogues are too much. I prefer to have more details to get me on imagining everything.

I am always into detective novels like those of John Grisham and the Bourne series. Books? I cannot buy recommended books, but I can read on tablet anyway.

@Lucky15 hehe! may I ask a favor from you? Please do not call me Ma'am, okay? I feel too old being addressed as Ma'am!

Depends on what books are being purchased and by whom and for what purpose. I have always recommended my students to spend at least a few hours at the stores, try to grasp the way the author has written, and if it makes sense to the student, s/he may purchase it. If not, look out the other books on the subject.

Nice point. Maybe it was on the purpose that made me not to see the recommended ones. Just maybe. Haha

I am confused, why should you avoid to read a good book only because someone suggested it? I decide according my preferences.

I am crazy ma'am. nah. Because the person who suggested a book may have a different taste of what i love. Haha. Like someone wanted me to read book series because the movie is a hit. I would rather buy another series that is not on movie yet. Now i am confused too

I have this problem with reading the best sellers. I just don't do it, unless I've already read that author before I knew they were best sellers. I read the back cover and if the book interests me I'll buy it and hope the content lives up to the back cover.

I don't normally go by recommendations in a book store. I have my own preferences and that is what I go by.
