Can you be addicted to lotion?

I am constantly washing my hands and every time I do, I apply lotion to them afterwards because if I don't I just feel dry and uncomfortable. I just use a small amount (like the size of a dime) each time. My husband says that I am addicted to lotion and that I am doing a disservice to my skin because basically I am causing it to "need" the lotion and it can't be "normal" skin without it. Do you think I'm harming my skin by using lotion?

People tend to throw the word "addiction" around way too easily these days. You are not "addicted" to lotion. Your skins moisture is being dried up by the soap and hot water and the lotion is meant to quickly rehydrate. I'd tell the husband that rough, dry man skin might be "normal" for him, but definitely not for us women folk.
