Two fish out of water...

...that's what it felt like heading to the big city this morning. No, not Chicago, or New York or Boston - the big city of Cleveland, Tennessee. When you live in the boonies where we do heading to any good size town or city is a big deal. I mean we put on our 'go to town' best outfits and mingled like big city folks!
Our one horse town has two traffic lights and a blinker and not much traffic except when school lets out. Cleveland, however, has traffic and red lights, lots of noise and too many people. It was fun being there for a few hours, but it was nicer to get back here to the peace and quiet.
Now the two fish out of water are safely back where they belong!

I so know what you mean. My whole life I have lived in the southern suburbs of Chicago. My last place of residence was 5 miles south of the Chicago city limits. I got so sick of all those people. Now we live about 50 miles south of Chicago in a small town of 3000. So quiet here we love it.

I haven't been to Boston in years but when I did go, several times, I loved it. I used to work for Dunkin' Donuts Regional office so we went up to Braintree a lot for training.

Ours can't get too big, it's a very small county and one boundary is a river!

We have visited Cleveland TN and did not think of it as a big city, but understand what you mean.

@PatZAnthony, when you live in a county that only has 1100 people a city like Cleveland with 42,000 people it's a big city to us. Thats from the 2010 census - Cleveland has grown like a weed with the opening of VW and two amazon plants and many other major companys. They are building homes and town homes like crazy. That's one of the main reasons we left, traffic was almost as bad as when we lived in a metro area in Central Jersey.
