Wikinut Stopped Paying Their Writers

I haven't written for Wikinut in ages, and actually forgot that I had signed up with them for a bit. Everyone has probably gotten the same message I did, about them not paying anymore. I thought the communication itself was very well-written, and explained in detail why they were making that decision. As always, it was money. Or, rather, the lack of it. I felt badly when I read the letter, as the people obviously were sorry to make that decision. But the letter also said that the founder had not been around in quite awhile. Where have we heard that before? They also said the advertising and spamming, etc. were very problematic. I feel sorry that writing sites are so easily brought down by those who would spam and otherwise screw up a good site. This decision won't stop the spammers, however. They will continue the site, but the incentive to keep it free of spam may wane, as it is a full-time job. Were you on Wikinut?
