Wikinut Stopped Paying Their Writers

I haven't written for Wikinut in ages, and actually forgot that I had signed up with them for a bit. Everyone has probably gotten the same message I did, about them not paying anymore.
I thought the communication itself was very well-written, and explained in detail why they were making that decision. As always, it was money. Or, rather, the lack of it. I felt badly when I read the letter, as the people obviously were sorry to make that decision. But the letter also said that the founder had not been around in quite awhile. Where have we heard that before?
They also said the advertising and spamming, etc. were very problematic. I feel sorry that writing sites are so easily brought down by those who would spam and otherwise screw up a good site. This decision won't stop the spammers, however. They will continue the site, but the incentive to keep it free of spam may wane, as it is a full-time job.
Were you on Wikinut?

Well, I am also sad by Wikinut becoming non-paying, even though we never earned big amount. making around 2 GBP, or 200 Rupees even in 7-8 months(or sometimes longer) is not something that can help in daily expenses.
Yet, it takes some incentive for writing.
And yes, why were owners not much involved? And can't sites invest in anti-spamming measures?
Well the overall scenario looks grim, and I believe Online writing as a full time job does not have a bright future.
So, we all need to enlighten and learn new things offline faster.

I think online writing for good money is preserved for those who can write really well. Professional writers build a good reputation, and if you like sitting at your keyboard for this kind of thing, it can be good money.

I never wrote for Wikinut, but I did read the post about them no longer paying. Seems like they tried hard, but just couldn't make it work. Sad.

Any site that tries hard and gets taken down by spammers is sad. And there is so much of it going on.

I was and probably still am on Wikinut but after reading that article and everything that I have started I did not have time just to write for pleasure I also needed a little income. Wikinut was fun to write on though. I had a lot of followers and a few of them led me to other places. I thank that site for that.
