I love hand me downs!

I love receiving hand me downs for the kids(even for myself, if I am so lucky). I like going through them and washing them, and even folding them and putting them away. We were lucky and received 2 large bags of clothes for my 4 year old, from a friend. Even though I have a bunch from my older daughter, I like being able to add to her wardrobe. I am still in the middle of washing it all up, and she hasn't seen any of them yet. She will be excited too!

I grew up in hand me downs. I can't say I particularly enjoy them now that I can purchase my own clothes, but I wouldn't turn them down provided they are the style and fit that I like. I have no kids but if I did I wouldn't say no to hand me downs for them either.

@Morethanamom I've taken clothes from an old friend before, and she's about a foot shorter than I am. The fit around the waist was fine, but pants for her were long capris for me. @hereandthere I'm just mostly picky. I don't have an extravagant style, but I am very particular.

Kids can be hard on clothes, so decent condition hand me downs are a life saver. For me used clothing is hard to come by because I am tall. Even when I buy new, finding a good fit is hard due to my proportions.

I had a friend who had a son a year older than mine and she always gave me his outgrown clothes. I loved it too.

It is nice! I try to pass things on again once I am done with them. It saves money, keeps things out of the land fills, and just plain nice.

@Morethanamom I didin't know anyone else who could use the clothes once we were done with them, so I donated them.

@fishtiger58 Donating used clothing is still a good option. Sometimes you can also find people who would benefit from the used clothing online.

I like hand me downs too. I hand down my clothes to my uncles daughter as she is in her teens and can fit in my clothes. I rather give them to somebody that needs them then give them to good will or something

I think most of the clothes we have is second hand with exception of underwear. We like hand me downs or used clothing almost as much as brand new because it's brand new to us.

Yep! Lots of the kids clothing is new to us, and we then only have to fill the gaps. I usually try to use birthdays and Christmas to buy the items the kids need. Underwear is one thing I insist on buying new.

Our family pass along clothes as the older kids outgrown them. Some of the things are nearly new as kids outgrow stuff so fast. I wish someone would pass along a bag of clothes for me LOL

You know what I found so touching about your post? You really appreciate things that others take for granted. You find excitement in having even used clothes for your kids. You are a very special person, and I wish everyone was like you. You value everything you get in life, I'll bet. And that is a gift that goes so deep. Gratitude. You are a good lesson for everyone.

I love hand me downs as well. Getting free clothes is always great lol. I'll never understand people who are against hand me downs.
