This Time of Year is Party Season

Normally, my husband and I live a pretty calm, quiet life. We rarely go to parties, which is fine with us.
Even when I was in college I was never a "party girl." I was more the laid-back hippy than the fun loving partier. I have never been a big drinker. I have never enjoyed being in a big club, bar or at an event with a lot of strangers. I don't like being around people who have had too much to drink. I don't like to be on the road when I know people are drinking too much.
At a result, I find this time of year to be stressful.
We belong to several different social groups and we have some lovely friends who are important to us. It seems as if every organization and friend has a party this time of year.
Next weekend we have one party to go to on Saturday night and TWO parties to attend on Sunday afternoon and evening.
New Year's weekend, we will have more parties to attend.
All the hosts are people who are important to us and I know we will go. However, I also know I will be exhausted by the time the party season is over.
I thought I would post a picture of the sunrise from my back patio. That is a nice, peaceful scene to focus on, instead of all the parties!
Is this time of year exhausting for you, too?

@DeborahDiane My husband is still not very well, I prefer not to go, I know that his headaches worsen when he is in the middle of people.

@LadyDuck - I understand. Sometimes I get a headache when I am in a large group of people.

I would much rather get together with just a few other friends from time to time instead of going to parties. However, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so we go.

Nevermind, we can only have those tiring yet happy moments once or twice in a year. Just enjoy the moment and all the laughters @DeborahDiane :)

@wiLLmaH - I am looking forward to one of the three parties I have this weekend. The other two will be OK, but I would be just as happy at home.

Yes, happily exhausted is a good way to describe them. I am usually happy that I went, but very tired afterwards.

Thank you! My husband and I do enjoy the view we have. It is very peaceful to wake up to in the morning. It's a great way to start the day.

Yes, I prefer just a small number of friends, too. It is easier to talk with people that way.

Oh, I remember those days. It seemed like every organization had to have a party at Christmas and the end of the school year. Life got crazy!

It seems to me that a lot of people do not really enjoy parties.

I keep thinking that things will slow down as I get older. So far, that has not been the case.

@deborahdiane Well, parties are not for me too. I enjoy partying with family and close friends on Birthdays, Thanksgiving and Holidays. I prefer to be myself enjoying to all the beautiful christmas carols/music.
