Life with contacts and astigmatism....

So I wear contacts and I have an astigmatism. I've worn contacts for almost 20 years and have only had an astigmatism for the last 4 or 5 years. I have come to find that contacts and astigmatisms don't go hand and hand. Before you ask, I am wearing the contacts designed for people with astigmatisms. I have tried at least 4 different brands and only one kinda works. So I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with contacts with astigmatisms and if it worked for them....maybe it's just me or there's another problem I need to investigate (like dry eyes)

I don't have either symptoms. I have yet to wear glasses. But, my grandmother uses Systane Eye Drops for her dry eyes.

@T_gray Nope. Over the counter! I always price match at Target, because in stores (well mine, they charge $18 where online is $15) And if you join you can get a $3 off coupon to print out. There are smaller sizes to pick from if you want to try this out, but that's the size I get her all the time since she doesn't know how to price match. http://www.target.com/p/systane-long-lasting-dry-eye-lubricant-eye-drops-1-02-oz/-/A-11016457#prodSlot=medium_1_7&term=systane
Systane lubricant eye drops help to reduce symptoms of dry eye.

I have the old age problem with my eyes, my arms aren't long enough. I use regular reading glasses otherwise my eyes are good. My son has an astigmatism and they told him no contacts. He is fine with that he doesn't want contacts anyway.

Haha. I can't see far away and I hate it. I don't mind glasses but I need some sort of protection from the sun. My eyes are really sensitive to light. And contacts with sunglasses is the best option I have come across

@T_gray I have green eyes. My eye doc told me Green eyes are the most sensitive to outdoor light. Even on gloomy gray days I have to have sunglasses on.

@fishtiger58 I do too on gloomy days. I thought people would think I was weird. It's like the clouds are too bright or something. I don't get it. Lol. But I have brown eyes

I don't wear contacts, but I do have astigmatism. The eye doctor long ago told me my eyes would not work well for contacts.

@T_gray The doctor at the time 42+ years ago, I was pregnant with my first child, said my eyes were shaped like footballs and would not be able to wear a contact. I know lenses have come a long way since then, but I don't think I would be able to put them in my eyes. I have a fear of anything going in my eyes since I got hit by the tip of a football in the eye coming back to school from lunch at home. I think that was 4th grade. It broke my glasses and there were classmates out looking for the glass lens on snow and ice all afternoon. It was found.

I'm starting to think I can't wear them either. But then again, how long ago? Even within the last 10 years contacts have come a long way with improving how well they do with astigmatisms and other areas at that
