Gullible Children

I just read a story by @jstory07 and a sad memory she has from her childhood. I think I was in Kindergarten at the time, so no more than 5. I usually walked with the downstairs neighbor girl who was older than me by a couple years. As we were walking to school there was an ambulance in a driveway and they brought the body out. I knew the person was dead because the whole body was covered. The girl I was walking with told me he died because he slipped and fell on the driveway entrance - that part that slopes down so you can get in and out of your driveway easily. From that day to this I avoid walking on driveway entrances as much as possible, and never once walked on them while I was growing up. I do now sometimes, but that memory is still there in the back of my mind. At my age I know she most likely knew nothing about how the person died and only made up the first thing that came to mind. It's amazing how something like that can stay with you, and yes, even make you gullible to believe you can die, slipping on the driveway. Thanks for reading.

Yeah...I was told that if you put peacock feather in your book, it would give birth to many small peacocks. I believed it. I was told that once we cross 100 years of age, teeth regrow. Now, I know scientifically that is not possible. But my mind wants to confirm that and I am still waiting to meet somebody who is 100 years old, hopefully my father.

If it was wintertime when this happened, it could well be that was it, but then how did your friend know? Therefore, you are probably right in that she made it up. Everything we do in life is based on what we've heard in the past or been led to believe. I don't find that any sillier than anything I might do or not do other than you know from whence it stems.

It isn't totally impossible to die that way.

I expect it made such an impression on you because you were so young. It would have been hard to grasp the enormity of someone dying.

more deaths occur at home, lots of places to fall.
