Hi friends from around the world. I've been doing oil pulling for few weeks now, and I like the feeling . Also my skin has cleared up. For those who don't know , "oil pulling" is rinsing around your teeth with oils such as olive oil for 20 mins or so in order to remove any stains before brushing. But I was wondering which oil do you like to use?

I've only used coconut oil for my teeth so far. Mostly I clean mine with baking soda and rinse with peppermint essential oil.

Do you know there is a recipe for toothpaste that includes coconut oil, baking soda, and essential oils? I've been using it for a few weeks now, I love it. I make peppermint and lemon flavored toothpaste.

@rebelann I never would have thought of lemon toothpaste except the site where I got the recipe had suggested it and it just so happen that I recently had bought some lemon essential oil.

Not sure how I feel about slooshing olive oil around in my mouth for 20mins! Or any other oil, in quantity.

@BeautifulPearl So is there a link to a webpage that describes the method that you can share? Then I can read up on it and understand it better.

I never heard of using olive oil, but I have used coconut oil for over a year now and recently I found a recipe using coconut oil, baking soda, and essential oils to make my own toothpaste. I love it oil pulling. I started when this dentist suggested I use fluoride toothpaste for my sensitive teeth, even though he knew I didn't use fluoride toothpaste. So with some research, I heard oil pulling with coconut oil will help and sure enough my teeth are not as sensitive as they were before.

@BeautifulPearl For a 30 ounce jar, around 7-8 dollars. However, since I am the only one to use it (my husband and son shy away from most natural remedies) it lasts pretty long. Of course I am getting ready to make some dog treats using this oil and brewers yeast, I heard it is a natural flea repellent and I really want to get them off the chemical drops.

I heard about coconut oil. It seems to be good for many things. Interesting idea making your own toothpaste. Unfortunately, the oil is sooo expensive. How about in U.S?
