Sick kids

As a parent, you know your kids are going to get sick every now and then. And sometimes it happens at the worst times. I should have known my son was not feeling well when he had a poop explosion last night at the annual Christmas banquet for the local Italian club. And he refused to eat his pasta and meatballs. That was when he proceeded to throw up all over his high chair. Unfortunately, he is non verbal so he couldn't even give me any warning. Even if he had, we wouldn't have made it to the bathroom as we were on the other side of the hall. Thankfully he seems better this morning. And he wasn't the only one who got sick. My oldest ended up throwing up in the middle of the night.

Oh no, I hope they are feeling better, or get better soon! Do you think it was food poisoning, or a stomach virus?

I am thinking that it is likely just a virus. Food poisoning would have likely affected us all and so far 3 of us have not had issues. My son also seems a lot better as well as my oldest daughter.

@Morethanamom Although vomiting and diarrhea are never fun, usually when it's a stomach virus it never lasts too long, thankfully! Can you imagine a stomach virus that lasted for like a week or more, similar to colds and flu? That would be horrible!

@moffittjc That would be no fun. Especially in small children, as they can get dehydrated very quickly. I remember having the Norwalk virus about 12 years ago and I seriously thought I was in some serious trouble. Thankfully it was over in about 12 hours and I was on the mend.

That must have been a difficult night. It's never easy seeing your kids sick like that. I never enjoy seeing my kids sick. I hope yours are doing better.

It is very natural for the kids to fall sick, but to handle a nonverbal one in such a situation is tough, as I know.

Thankfully he seems to be back to his usual self this morning. I am still being careful with what I feed him so to not irritate his tummy.

Threw my daughters comforter straight into the wash last night. I need to remember to get the clothes threw sometime today as well. Cleaning up vomit is something that makes me want to vomit. Blech.

In a way, I am glad they are getting this over with before Christmas. Last year, my middle child threw up in my bed on Christmas eve. that was no fun.

I hope he is well now, as a parent i know exactly what you mean, if there is one thing that freaks me out is when the kids get sick (when they were very young), i can't concentrate on whatever i do. Me and my wife would take turns watching over, administering the prescribed medicines, sponge bathing etc... and i don't get enough sleep

Yes, you tend to sleep with one eye open when your kids are sick. Thankfully he seems to be on the mend, playing and running around.

Thanks, and I hope so too. Kids tend to share the things we would like them to keep to themselves.

I was always a basket case when my kids were sick. I'm glad they are grown now and seem to get sick less.
