Anybody Heard of This New Movie Called Star Wars?

If you haven't heard of Star Wars, then you must be living off the grid in the remote frozen tundra of Siberia, because it's only the most popular movie franchise of all time!
Anyway, my 12-year old son has been begging me for months to take him to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and so I finally decided to take him Sunday night. Although I was really excited to see the movie myself (I was 8 when the very first Star Wars movie came out, so I know the excitement my son was experiencing), I wasn't looking forward to the massive crowds that we would be facing at the theater.
I finally got up the courage to go Sunday night, and my son and I made a fun afternoon out of the ordeal, going out for a nice dinner, followed by ice cream afterward, and then the movie.
Seeing our old favorites appear in the movie (Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, R2D2, C3PO) brought back fun memories of my childhood. It was great seeing them included in the movie!
I won't give any spoilers here, just in case you are one of the two people on earth who haven't seen the movie yet, but I will tell you it was a fun movie to see!
Have you seen Star Wars yet?

@moffittjc I have only seen about 3 of the movies. I did enjoy them but would like to watch them all again one day.

I can't even count how many times I've watched marathons of all the Star Wars movies! I've been hooked on Star Wars ever since the first movie came out!

I just happen to be one of those two that you mentioned. Furthermore I intend to reamin so because this series has never appealed to me in the slightest. I did watch a small part of the first one, but did not consider it to be worth my time to watch any more.

That's okay that you don't want to see the movie. Considering the storylinet is from a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I figured that you were probably there when it all happened and probably lived through the entire story, eventually hitchhiking on a star cruiser and migrating to Earth to live among us. No need to see the movies when you actually lived them!

@moffittjc I am not sure about it. Perhaps right now there are more movies in the cinema and therefore Star Wars have to wait for a moment? No matter what, I think Star Wars will break another record in China. People really like to watch foreign big movies.

I was reading this morning that the new Star Wars movie set world records for most money made in an opening weekend, and did this without factoring in sales from China! They explained that the movie won't be released in China until January. I'm curious as to why it was released in every other country of the world this past weekend, but wasn't released in China?

Actually, this might be a good one to go see. If I had to rank all of them, I'd say this was my second favorite of all the seven movies made so far (the very first Star Wars from 1977 will always remain my favorite).

Of course I have. It's one of the perks of being married to a nerdy-geek. We went on Thursday evening and surprisingly the screening we were in wasn't full. Packed, but not full. I expect most people went at the weekend. It's my favourite film of the whole shebang.

The very first Star Wars movie from back in 1977 will always remain my favorite Star Wars movie, but I have to admit, this one was really good, and would probably rank as my #2 favorite Star Wars movie! I'm thinking about going back and seeing it a second time!

I haven't seen it. The first movies by George Lucas were the best. Those since have not been my favorites, they confuse me, all the going back before this and that.

I think everyone agrees that the original trilogy (first three movies made in 1977, 1980, 1983) were the best out of all the ones made so far. I didn't like the second trilogy of movies made (the prequels), because I thought they spent too much time trying to focus on special effects instead of just letting the story tell itself. But what I like about this new one is that it goes back to the style and simplicity of the original Star Wars movie.

I haven't seen it yet but I am hoping too sometime this week as it's playing at our local theater. I'm not a big fan but my boyfriend is so i'm going for him.

I think you would enjoy the movie. It's not over-the-top, in-your-face action and violence the whole time like many may think, and there is humorous dialogue sprinkled throughout the movie. I like the new characters that were introduced. One of the new characters (Poe) went to my high school, so I thought that was pretty cool!

I usually feel the same way about movies. In fact, prior to going to see Star Wars a few days ago, I haven't been to a movie theater in probably 3 years. But I felt it was important to go see Star Wars for two reasons: 1) my son really wanted to see it; and 2) I have seen every single Star Wars movie since the first one came out in 1977. No since stopping now!

Maybe when it's available in the channels, i might watch it. I think there's more to it than meets the eye. I love the fact the old cast are there finally.
