Do you Know Eleanor Rigby?
The Beatles used to sing a song called Eleanor Rigby written by Paul McCartney. The song asked where all the lonely people came from. It is one of the saddest songs I ever heard.
The song was about an old woman alone. She died alone and no one noticed. Father McKenzie conducted a service for her and no one came.
There are a lot of lonely people all around us. They live alone and desperate and no one notices. Do you know Eleanor Rigby? Maybe it is Elmer Rigby.
This season, I challenge each of you to reach out to the Eleanor or Elmer in your neighborhood. Bring them Christmas cheer with a visit, a phone call or more. What you do could make all the difference in the world to them and make you feel happier too.

You can find the lyrics online. It was a Beatles song. I don't know if anyone else did it.

I think the Eleanors don't get out much but just suffer in silence, alone and unnoticed. They don't get many visitors and they just are there but no one sees them, really sees them.

I have met people who are lonely. I like to offer some kindness and try to cheer them up.

That song always touched me and it's important to reach out to the lonely people in this world. Sometimes all it takes is a smile and knowing that someone cares

Eleanor Rigby is a well known Beatle song. Heard it a million times.
